I broke my wrist in January. When I started Physical Therapy I jokingly called it the torture chamber and told the therapist that I should make a poster. He said that if I made it he'd hang it up.

Does anyone know where I can get some torture props for iClone? I'm retired now so I can't afford anything expensive

If you have 3dXchange, you may find something at Google 3Dwarehouse OR maybe warlords marketplace site OR wolf's marketplace site.

and a video

Hi Wendy,

I watched your video (very good) but wonder if you could clear up some questions?

I've exported (as FBX) rigged objects from Carrara with animation and thus made props with Performs added.  I've even gone the whole hog and made avatars.

But your prop (extremely well made) has no bones and you showed it in DAZ studio with sliders?

At what point did you animate?  Does this mean that we can make and import mechanical things such as a steel claw?  (I guess you'll say yes but how?)

I don't have Pipeline.

regards

it does actually have bones
I rigged it in Daz studio which I did not show
you can go to edit motion and manually rotate the bones in iClone

but you can just animate transforms too in carrara and import props
I find they often do odd stuff though depending on hotpoint/pivot
you need to get that right in both programs

and no you do not need pipeline
and I modeled this in C8.1pro too not C8.5pro, I use C8.1 for all my modeling and rigging
I find it more stable and the weightpainting easier, the triax in C8.5 makes it difficult
C8.5 only for importing from pipeline and ,duf from Daz studio

I did not use triax in DS either just general weights

Thanks for your reply Wendy - I couldn't get internet access yesterday but its repaired now.

It looks like you will be able to model anything having done that - which is in no way a trivial piece. Last year I was struck down badly health-wise and was house-bound for a while - thankfully I'm better now. It was really bad but liberated me from everything else enough to take up Hexagon in earnest and make good progress. I try Carrara VM sometimes but I end up lost. Something that may be the cause of Hexagon not working (apart from all the usual advice) is having other 3d programs open at the same time. I had such conflicts in the past.

You will see that I bang on about Physics in the Carrara forums - it is insulting to the real experts that I speak as though I know what I'm talking about but I'm intrigued by the idea of realistic clothes draping. I am even thinking that, when 3d printing becomes ubiquitous, it would be great to have a load of content ready made - such as biblical figures - maybe even ready to sell. I know that a lot has to be done to prepare models for that.

So the torture piece has bones? I didn't really need a mechanical claw anyway.
