UV Maps

I modified an iclone character in skulptrs, when i called the mesh back, the diffuse and opacity maps got stretched, and now it's near impossible to draw a straight line - ie a tshirt sleve.

when I try to reset the UV in 3DX 4 the tshirt turns into a bra lol ( not exaggerating either, it literally turned into a bra!!! )

I've been on this for many hours already and can't for the life of me figure out how to get the UV texture mapping back to some manageable form so I can straighten the sleve. I'm trying to draw out of shape lines , guessing how to line everything up, and the uv map is pretty much useless at this point because it has no straight lines on the sleve to follow.

Anyone know a 'simple' resolution to this ?

No, the software just assumes you are contributing to the Pinhead movies. :)

how did you try to reset the uv's? did you mean by using one of the projection types(planar, cubic, cylinder, sphere) if that is the case you should not have done that, you need a pelt style uv for characters. keep the uvs that came with the model after exporting it from scultris and use some kind of projection painting program to get around the uv distortion created by the deformation of the mesh. I thought you had 3d coat? if not you can use blender.

Hope this helped,

Thank you Stuckon! I was afraid of that!! I was hoping a UV tool would help me readjust the uv, .... I found this http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm but it's written in alien.

and naw, I wish i had more tools that were easier to learn, i mean I'm slowly getting the hang of it, but learning all those softwares can be a full time job in itself. quite honestly, they seem to complicate things needlessly :x occams razor would have it's day with them!

Thanks again, at least I know the route to fix this now and wont waste anymore time on this alien uv technology!. cheers!
