Importing audio

I've recorded audio direct to an iClone project, and it seemed to work okay. But when I try to bring in audio (.wav) that I've recorded using an audio program, nothing happens. That is, it shows an import process happening, but it won't actually play anything.

Is there a particular setting (sample rate etc) that needs to be used? I can't find any documentation on the matter.

Make sure the audio is PCM WAV

Audacity will load your current WAV and convert/save it using PCM format.

Also, check your timeline. make sure that the audio you imported is on the frame where you intended the audio to play. Pretty much every object and avatar in iClone is capable of supporting imported sound.

Now, another thing, sometimes (and I've had this problem too) iClone might not playback the audio you imported. Say you wanted a character to talk.

First, make sure the character is highlighted, then select facial animation under the animation option. Second, you have three options for enabling your avatar to use dialogue:
1. Record your voice.
2. Open an audio file.
3. Text to talk.

No matter which method you use, your character should start talking on whatever frame you chose. Now, if your character's mouth is moving, but there is no audio...go ahead an export the video. Usually the audio will appear there. I know this does not help at all when trying to set the pacing of a conversation (as audio is extremely important there).

Other things you can check:
Look at the timeline for your character...
With the appropriate character highlighted, select the "FACE" button, and select "viseme". This is the track where the bar for your imported audio will appear. Move the timeline to the appropriate frame, and make sure that the file appears on the "viseme" track. Also, don't worry if you have to move the file up or down the timeline....the character will still lip sync to the file, no matter where you place it.
