SketchUp and iClone Rendering Contest - Bring Architecture to Life

My entry entitled - "We Must Never Forget"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb2bxu451zY

One of the most difficult projects I have had to make due to the nature of the subject matter. At times I had to stop my research as it was at times, far too painful to read.

This entry is a reminder of mans inhumanity towards man and something that we must strive to never be repeated.

Models:-

Auschwitz gate, arbeit macht frei, poland by chevin

Drewniany barak odcinka BIIb (Wooden barracks section) by Sebastian Sosnowski

System wiez strazniczych (The system of watchtowers) by Sebastian Sosnowski

Music:-

Never wait for the gates to open, no matter where you are in time. What surrounds you will outlast you. We will never forget unless something worse happens, but we can live because life is better now that we go forward. Trees stand where humanity fell down. Sleep in peace, now that you have done your part.

It's never too late!

A solid entry. Artistically rendered with a solid and poignant message. Well done Colin.

A very haunting piece, especialy with the music. At first I didn't know what it was about. The translation of the sign gave me an idea, but the mention of Auschwitz made it very clear.

Indeed, such things must never be forgotten, though one must find forgiveness lest they become encompassed by the same hatetred.

Best of luck in the competition, Capemedia

Regards,

Chris

this was a very moving clip, the choice of colors and music evoked the feeling of the meaning of the model itself,

Wow guys coming from you these messages mean a lot.

I always believe in playing to your strengths, I'm not really a modeler or even a texture artist (Even though the gate turned out far better then I imagined it would).  Yes I had to adapt the models and there were elements of artist license used.

So I was never going to do a house, or a car or anything like that.  I wanted to do something more then just the model, with meaning, with worth and hopefully from what you guys have said, I may have achieved that.

During my research I discovered many facts that moved me, here I give you just one of them.

AFTERMATH by Evelyn Roman - Holocaust Survivor

Fifty years after the fact
Painful memories intact
Nightmares recurring,
Nazis appearing.

        Must survivors remain
        At their altar of pain
        Forever enduring
        Unspeakable haunting?

And will it subside
On life's other side
Or go on persisting
Into the realm of night?

Thanks for taking the time to watch this.

Cape!
