I came across a few free BVH files and decided to import into iClone. I'm unable to do that using the import function in iClone as it seems to not recognize the files. However, after I got assurance that BVhacker was not a hacking software but a viewer and editor, Installed it and can see both the codes and the actual skeletons. But so far I still can't import to iClone and to be frank am ignorant of this type of thing anyway. Can anybody advise me?

Hi jrw,
bvh files come in too many flavors, the key component to make it work with iclone is that they need similar skeleton configuration. The best way to test it is to load it into the bvh converter provided by reallusion, if you can see the skeleton there, you are good to go for convertion, however , you still need to help the converter out to do the clean convertion sometimes, by imputting angle offsets on the joints. Its a hit and miss process but once you have the profile working you can save it and not have to do it again for that type of bvh file.

Hope this helped,

One thing you cleared up immediately is the skeleton issue. I can say from looking at the skeletons in bvhacker that they aren't like iClone's. They seem more detailed except for the hands. I will try the other stuff you mentioned and cross my fingers. THANKS a heap.

Ok, I went into BVH Converter. It loaded the file and played it like a champ. I tried every profile in the target section but cannot convert the file.

The IPISoft mocap wiki says: "BVH Converted in iClone 4 has a bug that causes distortion of legs animation. iPi Studio exports an iClone-optimized BVH correctly as can be verified by reviewing exported BVH motion in BVHacker or MotionBuilder or other third-party application. No workaround is known. We recommend that you contact iClone developers about this bug as it is out of control of iPi Soft."

What is the status of IPISoft mocaps in iClone?
