3d text for iClone

I made the sample below using a new low-cost utility, Font to Mesh Express.

The app works pretty well but it fails to generate a UV map, or at least there is none recognized by iClone. In the absence of a UV map, you can set the color of the object in iClone but you can't assign a material.

There is a utility which will solve that problem: UV Mapper (free version).

You will still, of course, need 3DXChange to get the OBJ file into iClone.

I don't recall the name of Reallusion's little 3D starter program any more, but I think it accepted text and fonts. It would be nice to have text and font support in iClone 5, but failing that, it would be nice to have it in 3DXChange or even a cheap little utility that resembles Font to Mesh.

Igor beat me to the "post" on this one.

I've had no problems producing 3d text in Sketchup. It can be fully textured in iClone after going through 3DXchange.

Here's a little something I did using Sketchup for my text creation, and iClone for the animation. Smile I hope this works.
