Hi Everyone,

Has anyone every had the need or been successful in importing a SolidWorks (http://www.solidworks.com/) 3D Model?

What would be the file format or process?

Hi sw00000p,

Thank you for your advise. I don't have 3ds max but perhaps the trial version will still allow me to try the conversion.

Canblender take one of those formats?

If so, you can use that. It's free.

(I don't kknow how the materials and textures will fair, but the shape itself should be ok)

Thanks Dreamcube017 for that idea too - looks like I will have to do some more reading and testing :)

Hi Daniel ,

If you can export to collada with this plugin (SolidWorks 2008 SP5.0 or later - The Add-In will not run on older versions ) and import to meshlab for example , or more easy the
Autesdesk fbx converter 2010 (or later , easy to install and uninstall ) . Fbx converter can load .dae (collada) and export in obj , .... 3dxchange 2 or 4 > Iclone , tralala :P
