License issue using base character for client.

Hello I bought a character pack awhile back called "Adventure Figures". I got the Standard License.

Recently, a client asked me to create a couple custom figures for them to use in iClone8. I used the base for one of the adventure pack cahracters to start. I used GoZ to sculpt and reproportion it based on a character design from the client. I then created all custom textures for the character as well as sculpting all the clothes inm Zbrush and importing them into CC4 to put on the character. All seems fine except when I pass the iAvatar file to the client he gets a watermark on the screen as well as an error that says "the content license for the below content is not available in the marketplace yet." So Im assuming its a license form that base figure I started with? But shouldnt Standard License cover this? I completely changed the character as well as textures in Zbrush after too. The original barely exists anymore aside form the facial blendshapes and UV layout.

How can I get this unlocked for my client without having to ask them to buy the same pack, or buy an extended license if that would fix it, which seems excessive for using a single base mesh.

Hi...

If you used a character from a pack purchased from the Content Store, then your client will also need to own that base character to be able to use it without a watermark. This type of content is called derivative content. Derivative content is normally used when you wish to create add-ons for an existing pack such as offering new textures for clothing etc.

if you wish to create custom characters for clients (and avoid watermark issues) then they should be built on the default base character that is included in Character Creator 4.

ugh, ok, I wish this was more clear in the license info. Is there any way to resolve this then without them having to but the entire pack themselves? (Cant imagine my client will be happy to have me ask them to buy more stuff) There was alot of work put into sculpting and customizing the character to match the design, and kind of impossible to just "start over" from a new base mesh.

This seems like a really important point that should be stated in the Content store and under the LIcense agreement.

Is your client also using CC4? Why didn't you simply send them an FBX or another format.

Reallusions proprietary formats always needs the base pack you started from. Otherwise everybody could simply distribute base meshes for free.

Yep I know that now but considering even custom characters are still the same topology and UV layout as the free base CC characters, then its the same license. I assumed these custom characters are just buying the sculpt and textures and clothing, not a modified license for the base geo. 

The client asked for delivery of an iAvatar which is why I did that. In the end I was able to just do it as an fbx and they imported it into their CC4 to use in iClone, but was just trying to avoid them having to do that extra setup step and just have it ready to go. Butlesson learned, from now on Ill only be using the CC4 base characters for my sculpts.
