Disappearing sprites

I'm working with Garry Pye's "Pirate" character and the right arm and forearm disappear in animation.
I've tried to reorder the sprite layers but to no effect.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So when you switched layers, the hand still didn't show up? I mean, it's 100% not behind the other sprites, right?

And speaking of a possible solution, I had a sprite disappear once too because it wasn't set to be visible for certain frames.
