Importing .obj or .fbx assets into iClone 8 with textures

I'm having trouble importing .obj or .fbx props and textures into iClone 8.  Say from TurboSquid or CGTrader. If the prop comes with a textures file, I then have to apply those textures by hand into each mesh of the prop. Tedious but workable.  If the prop is an .obj file with only the .mtl file included, I can't get at the textures at all.
I see from a four-year-old forum discussion that this problem was to be fixed in a future version of iClone. I have the current edition, but still cannot figure out how to solve this problem.
FWIW, iClone is on my C: drive, while me projects are on D:. I download the import files to D: and work from there.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Hi...

For OBJ the .mtl file lets iClone know where to look for the textures. If the textures are not in the same location as shown in the .mtl file then iClone won't be able to find them. The .mtl file is normally just a plain text file so try opening it in Notepad and either move the textures to the right folders or edit the .mtl to show the correct folder.

For FBX you should have a folder with the same as the FBX file but with .fbm as the extension which contains the textures. iClone should then be able to find them. So for example if your asset is called Chair.fbx then you should have a Chair.fbm folder containing all the textures.

Thanks. I'll try to make that happen.
