You will have to settle for 3DX 7 pipeline.

You can't buy iClone 5 - that link is obsolete.

You need to buy 7 (or 8, of course, but 7 is the earliest version still available for purchase).  And MUST be bought through the RL website (no matter what other links say - they are mostly bogus anyway).

No. 3DXchange 7 requires iClone 7.

Your are the same person who seemed very keen to do some
“old machinima” style renders from the  Iclone era 3/5.. yes??

you do realize this is possible in Iclone 7+ but you need to have the  “old machinima” styled figures from that era.
I still have  alot of my old iclone 5.5 content from that era
Maybe some older content in the store might fit the look you seek

I can't really buy iclone 7 or 8
Because I use Windows XP

If your hardware & OS is that old there are few options for you to participate in Reallusion’s or any 3D character eco system in 2024, unless you are willing to continue spelunking on Ebay or migrate to an older program like this

Oh man...
Guess I'll have to buy this without 3dxchange 5...

Well if you are trying to get a retro” machinima” style then the figures and content that ships with Iclone 5 will suffice and you do not really need 3DXChange 5 as it was for import and export of characters to the old game engines and version of Daz studio at the time,  none of which are even available today AFAIK.
By Kelleytoons - 2 Years Ago
Yeah, clearly an XP machine running 5 is about all anyone could want anyway (I didn't even start using XChange until 7, although I had it earlier, and even then I had a MUCH faster Windows machine).

But if I were the OP I'd stick with 2D (pick up a copy of Moho - or Anime Studio as it was called.  An old version should be cheap and it should be all that would run capably on that slow of a machine).

I found a copy of iclone 4 pro
Which comes with 3dxchange 4
But... it's in German
Is it possible to change language in iclone 4?

This is a 13 year old post about crazy talk
Quote from PeterRL:” No sadly there isn't a way to change the language. This is determined by the individual installer”.

The same likely applies to Iclone from way back then.

I just tried to find the option to Change the language in my old Iclone 5.5 on my ancient win 7 laptop .
I see no such option  Thus it is not likely it was an option in Iclone 4 from before that.
So buy that "German version" at your own peril.:ermm:

Seriously a copy of 3DXchange that old is going to be useless.
unless you have plans to import alot of low poly props from somewhere.

No modern FBX character from Daz or Mixamo will work
and any Iclone character you export as FBX will not import into a modern program like blender etc due to the old FBX format.
Your best option here is that Iclone 5  copy on ebay
while it's still listed.

Anime studio (which eventually became MOHO under new owners)
is a great 2D animation program.

There was an older version(9) installed on the free 2017 Imac I was gifted by someone two years ago.

https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/e6a796eb-a161-4e28-b4a5-9978.png
But I later got version 13.5 (now called MOHO) for windows.

If you want to do lipsync with your anime studio you might want to try this free  utility for creating your audio based .dat files for anime studio/MOHO with no need for a text file of the dialogue.

Hopefully it runs on XP.
I used it for this MOHO animation

RL should open a legacy market where we could trade legally old versions of our software (pre iClone 5 for example). But, I don't think that will happen...
By Kelleytoons - 2 Years Ago
There's no bigger fan of RL products than me, Anime Studio will always have a special place in my heart (and, yes, it's now Moho but I wouldn't be sure that would run on an XP - but Anime studio should).

I have dozens of tutorials about it on my YouTube channel (well, I WAS one of the devs after all, and ran the biggest AS forum for years).  So - if XP is what you got, AS is what you need.

By AutoDidact - 2 Years Ago
The bundle the OP is looking at on Amazon, contains anime studio ”Debut” 9
A less featured version than the full but
according to my searches XP is supported
Windows OS & Hardware:
- Windows 7, 8, Vista and XP
- (64-bit OS required for 64-bit installation)
- 1 GHz Intel Pentium or equivalent
Mac OS & Hardware:
- Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8
- (64-bit OS required for 64-bit installation)
- 1.5 GHz Intel Processor or above
RAM, Display and Other:
- 700 MB free hard drive space
- 512 MB RAM
- 1024x768 resolution
- 16-bit color display
- CD-ROM drive (for physical version of application)
- Windows Internet Explorer 8 or newer for Windows Systems
- Internet connection for Content Paradise
- Poser 7 or later needed to import Poser scenes
By Kelleytoons - 2 Years Ago
Yeah, 9 should work just fine on XP.  2D is very undemanding of resources (I used to use a pretty poor laptop all the time - one of the things I really miss about doing 2D is you could do this, use a very low functioning laptop for animation while you were out and about.  Imagine my dismay when I found that to do even halfway decent 3D animation I needed a laptop as big as a boat anchor and heating up like a microwave oven on my lap.  I will NEVER use a laptop again for animation).

And we probably now should shut up - RL is kind of sensitive about non-RL stuff discussion (understandable but at least the OP has enough info to decide what to do next.  Honestly, my next purchase would be a decent PC :>)

Could you please leave a link to the tutorials?
And like how better Is pro than debut? Pro is like 30 dollars more expensive than debut is it worth it?
By Kelleytoons - 2 Years Ago
You need Pro.  Period.

Um, here's my YouTube Channel.  You can find my Anime tutorials under the two playlists for Anime, as well as the other playlist "Never Too Late" which is *mostly* done with Anime Studio (the last two features were done with iClone as I had moved on to 3D).

The links to most of my stuff should be current (I have tools you can download) but if not you can always ask me either there or email me through this forum.  However I would be of zero help nowadays - it's been at least a decade since I've used Moho/Anime Studio (when Fox first optioned and then declined our series it took the heart out of me and I stopped animating in 2D).

Agreed !!
the bundle the OP is buying contains Anime studio ,Manga studio and Poser “debut” versions.
I was quite active ,in the Poser community, when the erstwhile owners released the “debut” versions and I remember them being harshly criticized, mocked & ridiculed, by the community, for how watered down they were
compared to the full versions at that time.

Of course ,its all relative depending on the OP’s planned use case.

Well thanks everyone for the help!
Can't wait to try anime studio!

By AutoDidact - 2 Years Ago
Yes, much like Cartoon animator 4( which I  have )
Crazytalk animator 2 is far easier than Anime studio 9.5
But where are you going to get Crazytalk 2 anyway??

I thought you can only buy
Cartoon animator 5 from Reallusion now.

Just remember that CrazyTalk is only heads - if that's what you want, yes it's a helluvalot easier thatn Anime Studio (which is full function animation).

Here's an animation I did in AS just to show you (took only a few days):

Is Crazytalk animator 2 better or easier than anime studio 9.5 pro?
theunknownkplus21   you are asking about "Crazy talk animator2"
which is actually now CTA 5  if you go to this page and try to buy it or
demo it, you get sent to the Cartoon animator 5 page which is a non starter for windowsXP
Perhaps found some older version on ebay which does show a few hits for "Crazy talk version 4  (heads only)
which will support XP

AFAIK Reallusion only has one 2D animation software for sale any more…
Cartoon animator 5

If you press on the "buy now" on one of the bundles it's adds to your Reallusion cart
I just want to know if it's any better than Anime studio 9.5 pro
And also Crazytalk animator 2 is the last Reallusion 2d animation software that supports Windows XP
By AutoDidact - 2 Years Ago
OK I see
Reallusion has some strange, cryptic practices regarding older software availability
But Yes this looks like the Ideal version for you, being on windows XP ,so buy now!!
I have Anime studio pro 9.5 (on Mac OSX as well as MOHO 13.5 on windows)
and Cartoon animator 4
Crazy talk, ,(which is technically and older version of Cartoon animator),is far easier to learn than Anime studio pro.
By theunknownkplus21 - 2 Years Ago
Yeah I bought it I'm learning how to use it right now it also has this cool 3d feature!
