Hello,
Does anyone know how to update Character Creator offline?
I don't use the hub software since I work offline.
Much thanks for any info

Hi...

You need to be online to update. Character Creator 4 is designed to be always online and you need to be online to download and install any plug-ins and also your content using the built in Content Manager. Although not recommended, once you have everything installed and updated you can then go offline.

Hi,

If you work exclusively offline, and you are using all your own content in the library, how can this "start" window be removed/ inactivated without connecting to internet?
Some places of work require a closed system for security reasons and nothing can be done about online access.
It would seem if multiple licenses are being bought, you know who is buying them, you would find a way to accommodate this. Sure you can still use it without the Content Library, however the content library really aids in the organization of items and speeding up how you use the software.

Thanks

Thank you for the feedback. I will pass this on for review.

Unfortunately though, as I mentioned in a previous reply, Character Creator and iClone are now designed to be used online. This is now common with most modern applications and games which require an always on internet connection. Sadly I don't think there are any plans to change this requirement at this time.

@Peter

Sorry for me asking again

Then you say:

Does tis mean against CC4.2 / IC 8.2 - CC4.4 and IC 8.4 are NOW required to be online to work at all ?

It is simple to test. Just disconnect from the internet and see if the application opens/works.

I havent updated to 4.4 /8.4 yet . On 4.2/8.2 i can simply go offline and do my work . See picture.
I was just confused if it may be different in 4.4/8.4

I didn't do extensive testing, but I could open both iClone 8.4 and CC 4.4 while offline. I also seem to remember I could keep working during a recent internet outage.

well today is your lucky day. I always use iclone, or CC while not on the internet. and i can't seem to find any issues. it works for me.
my question is why anyone would want to use them while online to begin with. being online line uses way too many resources and just drags things down.
the only time i am online is to check for updates, or to download content. in which i believe this thread was about anyway. you don't need to be online to use iclone
or cc.

Thanks guys,

please let me ask you CC4.4 users another question.
There are so many error reports across theforum and the tracker that i hesitate to update. Another main reason
is that some people report incomatibilities to projects imported from ealier versions like CC4.2 / IC8.2
Also the whole content manager database may have a different structure because of the changes that were announced.

Can you confirm this as well ?
