Hi, folks...
If you've seen my avatar, yeah, it's the battlestar Galactica I first made in iClone.
This version turned out hundreds of times better.
Well folks, here it is, my rebuild of the Galactica, still using iClone 4.2 PRO.
I think she turned out miles better than my first build. Thank God for Hi-Def cameras and hyper-accurate miniatures from Konami.
Because of certain shape limitations in iClone, I had to take a couple minor liberties, but I think it worked out for the best. I even decided to get a little Star Trek-ish, and put the Galactica's name on the aft landing bays as well as the sides of the ship. (It's a fanboy thing...LOL!)
I still have some minor touches to do...like the animated landing bays, but that's soon in coming.
Using my Hi-Def video camera, I took multiple shots of my Konami Pegasus miniature, and piece by piece, managed to map them onto my mesh. I think the results turned out beautifully. For a simplistic model, this one really rendered well. Because of the nature of the mappings, I was able to create the Galactica, Pegasus, Columbia, Atlantia, and Rycon.

Most kind, especially coming from a tutor. Thank you. :)
Part of the process of making this build was using a cockpit from the Starship Components set, and remapping the parts of it to make a much more convincing looking nose section for the ship. Attaching it to the main hull removed any possibility of my "opening the nose" by accident. LOL!
I am working on the Cylon basestar now, and it's a slight challenge in its own right because of the way I am having to map the Konami miniature details onto it....but I will likely have it done by tonight.

Are you constructing the classic base star or the revamped one from the Sci Fi series?

Classic basestar. :)
In fact, this whole project is a continuation based on the original series. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new series, but my focus is for the classic show. :)
Here's the basestar, as well as the mining ship (jokingly called the "filmcan ship") from the original show, both constructed in iClone---
