I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts as my trial version of Character Creator 4 is coming to an end. I've been extremely satisfied with its performance, especially when working alongside Blender. I firmly believe that this program is the best choice for any developer looking to create human character models for their projects.
Currently, I'm contemplating the purchase of a license, but I've encountered some confusion regarding the End User License Agreement (EULA). My intention is to try my hand at creating a visual novel – a game composed of 2D images that I plan to render in Blender. So, my question is, am I allowed to do this, and which licensing option (standard/extend) should I consider when acquiring assets from the marketplace?
What perplexes me is that both licenses mention the right to create games. However, from what I understand, the "extend" license might imply use for VR/AR/METAVERSE projects. Is that correct?
Furthermore, I would like to clarify that I am the sole developer involved. I don't have a team of artists or animators, and this information is vital for me to make an informed decision.
I sincerely appreciate your assistance and feedback on these matters. Your support means a lot, and I'm looking forward to engaging in a constructive discussion with the Reallusion community.
Thank you in advance.

Hi...

For commercial work in video or image form there are no special licensing requirements. All the content that comes with CC4 can be used royalty free and any content purchased from the Reallusion Stores only requires the Standard license if you just plan to render images or video. The Extended license is only required when using applicable content in commercial games or other applications including VR.

Do I need an extended license if my game is free?

No, but if you later plan to make a another game or application that isn't free, then you will need to purchase the Extended License version. There is no upgrade option from Standard to Extended.

However, as I mentioned previously, if you are only using images or videos in your game and not the actual character models, then you only need the Standard License even if the game is commercial.

Are those licenses only for content purchased from the store?.
I want to use cc4 in a commercial game.
Do I need the store to create all characters I need in cc4? I'm confused

The Standard and Extended Licenses apply to content purchased from the Reallusion Content Stores. You don't need to purchase licenses for any free content that comes with CC4.
