Soft Body Physics?

Ok I seen multiple videos displaying soft body physics, in the breast, hip, stomach, butt, and legs. I cannot for the life of me, figure out how they are doing it. I understand the breast as you can turn it on and off in iclone 8, but the rest???

The only way to fake soft body physics on an Iclone character
is with the morph animator which requires 3D Modeling/sculpting
(in an external program)  skills to create the morphs to be animated.

How did they pull it off with the Camilla Soft Body Physics Project?
By AutoDidact - 3 Years Ago
Not familiar with such a camilla project
is there a tutorial or just some finished footage with no details  on the process?

BTW This is an area  of animation where  Daz and even Source filmmaker , actually crushes Iclone
because all of the Daz morphs can be accessed & animated in the Daz time line.
There is even free script that auto animates the various “body jiggles” over any frame range you specify or even hair morphs to simulate swaying hair etc.

But of course this leads to the inevitable NSFW content
that RL would prefer to avoid.

Soft Physics is a keyword. Explore body physics weight maps.

If you need to make it for clothed character, then soft physics has be applied to cloth items.
May not be easy to make for all types of cloth (depends on UV quality and some other factors) and generally not a walk in the park if you never worked with soft cloth.
But something like that is doable (a bit exaggerated):

Are you sure that the soft-body physics were exclusively created in iClone? For example, some time ago I created a dance animation in iClone with an over-weight male cartoon character and while the dance animation was done in iClone, I imported the animated character into Cinema 4D and there I added a jiggly belly and also a jiggle to the hat (with tools in Cinema 4D). Hence, I ended up with an iClone character with soft physics added in a different application (which I use for final rendering anyway).

Yes, it is for the full body:

As a practical matter, body jiggle physics have a severe limitation for ideal BMI people
(ie physically fit women & men).
No offense to the merchant. but the “jiggling” on that relatively thin camilla seems hardly worth the effort to my eyes.
and would be even less useful with her actually wearing clothing IMHO
But apparently there is a niche,(Fetish?) demand for more obese body types where such physics effects are more clearly pronounced.

I suppose Soft Body was added by RL as an experiment over an outdated physics engine.
But the maps made by vendor could be transferred to any CC character and you may still boost the settings and weight maps tweaks for the body:

For cloth, body could be hidden and physics applied to cloth alone.
A combo like a "bikini line" would be more complicated to make.
To keep it in sync maps and settings have to match precisely.
There is no way to transfer physics body weight to cloth in CC, but it could be baked in Blender.

If you have alot of morphs installed for your Daz figures
it’s quite easy create the appearance of soft body physics with the free cycler script I screen shot earlier in the thread.
But 99.9% of Daz studio users never animate any way so I am probably the only guy,(other than it’s creator)to ever use the cycler script.

lol, that's nice :w00t: .. but still a DAZ. It's much better to do it natively.

BTW the idea of simulating tight cloth along with body failed.
Even precisely baked map for underwear from body map did not help.
Engine randomness and UV discrepancies play major role.

Nothing else left but to simulate underwear in MD over the body simulated in iClone...
Could not get it 100% believable though :Whistling:

I tried copying the maps to other characters. It doesn't work. I even copied the physics settings. Am I doing something wrong?

I dont use daz. Can the items or morphs be transfered directly into iclone?
By AutoDidact - 3 Years Ago
Daz Genesis 1,2,3,8,9 and their clothing.hair can be transformed into Iclone but
AFAIK the Daz Body morphs needed for the “jiggly bits” can’t be transferred in any way that the IC morph animator
could used to fake soft body physics animations.

There maybe a way to export alembic from DAZ, but the exporter is not free.

Probably...

Soft Body works for any character in iClone or CC as long as maps  and settings are properly applied.
Settings should be applied individually for each material though while you select them in weight maps assign window.
Those maps which come with the Marketplace project, need to be optimized. I saved them and converted to 8 bit Grayscale PNG with 256 indexed colors and then reapplied.
If you need to lighten them up for more dynamics, do not do it in Weights panel. Instead, increase a contrast in an external app and reapply.

There...  a different character

The Official $$paid$$ Alembic exporter in the Daz store is useless garbage anyway:crying:
However there is a FREE,excellent Alembic exporter for Daz studio made by a talented third party.

FYI it is targeted for Blender & Houdini so not sure how well the textures would transfer to Iclone via alembic

Oh yes, Sagan works great in iClone.
The only limitation it cannot be applied to the Non-Standard (Humanoid) character imported from Daz.
iClone does not support Alembic animations import for Humanoids (only for Standard Base) for some reason.
But if you import DAZ character as a prop into CC, send it to iClone. Then no need to worry about materials in alembic.

Maya/UE/C4D preset export with SubD Cage for Sagan worked just fine in iClone applying it to a prop.
I only did a single pose for Azeem

Of course I am not sure if the OP wants to endure the vicissitudes of learning the Daz eco system and crappy animation system.,
and the morph packs he would need would cost a bit of money.
Being pretty adept at modeling/sculpting ,in Blender, myself,
I might have a go at doing some custom body morphs for a CC3 base and using the morph animator (like the guy in the video I posted earlier) now that I finished my last feature film in only 76 days and find myself with some free time for new experiments.
By Sp3c1alk - 3 Years Ago
Yea im going to try to do what was suggested above by lightening the textures in another app and see how it goes. I try to avoid Daz but it gets harder and harder the more I need. I'm about to start my first feature length film.
