So, once upon a time, when I needed to change the position of an object (or character) I could click a button on the toolbar at the top:
and then I would be able to rotate the object:
And if I wanted to move it without rotating it along the X,Y,Z axis - I could just use the button next to it. Note: These images were taken from CC3 and NOT the most recent updated version of CC4. Because when I try to do that in CC4, I get this:
The image is a little blurry because I had to take a picture of my screen with my phone camera, but that's the only way to SEE that the gizmo does NOT change so that I can freely rotate the object. I mean, I can move it, but it's very difficult and it's now IMPOSSIBLE for me to place that trident in the character's hand. And I have tried absolutely everything in CC4, but the old gizmo won't pop up on screen no matter what I do. So am I doing something wrong???? This is VERY frustrating. It makes all of my weapon accessories unusable. And if this topic has already been covered on the Forum, please direct me to that thread. I don't really know what search term to use.

A couple of ways to get it back. Either Ctrl+Q or "Transform Gizmo" check box in Preferences.

Sir, you are a scholar and a saint - and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. When I uninstalled and reinstalled CC4 recently it must've erased all of my preferences. That's like a completely invaluable tool. I have no idea why that box isn't checked by default - but from now on I will never forget where that is. Much appreciated.
