Change the bones that AccuRIG Generates

Hello,

Long story short - I have a custom character that I am trying to get to animate via CC4 / iClone 8. (In other words, it was not built via CC4 character creation stuff). I have tried importing it in with a typical Blender rig and mapping everything correctly only to find that motions would not be applied for some reason.

So I dropped that and used AccuRIG via CC4. Now I have far too many bones. I saw in a tutorial video that it's possible to edit custom LOD settings, specifically selecting which bones are useful versus not. The problem is I cannot find this in my version of CC4.

Here's the screen I found in this video.

My properties for the character look nothing like this. Here's the settings in the export screen for FBX and showing what properties I have Under InstaLOD.

How do I set the bone detail?

It comes from Optimize and Decimate. That button is available for AccuRig built skeletons.

Ah! I bet. I know what went south. I exported this character and used blender to add a couple of bones for the clothing. Does that then make it not recognized that it is an accurig? I used the blender plugin to export an import back in.

You bet. Add bones after decimating the rig.

Ahh! I will try that shortly. Thank you. :)

Okay, I was able to do the optimize and decimate (thank you!) I turned off the twist bones, expecting that it would do the correct weight painting automatically. Instead her arm looks abnormally twisted. Is there something I need to do to have it correctly optimize?

Did you rig her fully dressed?

I did. I actually think I figured out the problem. I was going back and starting from scratch to send you screenshots. This time around I changed the "Skeleton Template" from Standard (101) to LOD 1 (54) and she seems to be coming out without any funky twisting.

I do have one more question I am hoping you can help me with - What are "Share Bones" ?

Edit: By the way - THANK YOU! I was so close to giving up on this program altogether.

Here is some brief explanation of bone groups: https://manual.reallusion.com/Character-Creator-4/Content/ENU/4.1/09-Character-Level/UI-for-Custom-LOD-Settings.htm?Highlight=share%20bones

Hi,
If you're having difficulty locating the option to set bone detail in CC4's InstaLOD, here's a step-by-step solution to help guide you through:
1. Update CC4
2. Accessing InstaLOD:
Open CC4 and load your character.
In the main menu, find the Modify tab.
Under the Modify tab, locate Attributes. You should see a section dedicated to InstaLOD.
3. Setting Bone Detail in InstaLOD:
In the InstaLOD section, there should be an option for LOD (Level of Detail).
Clicking on this option will bring up a menu where you can adjust various LOD settings.
Within this menu, look for something related to Bones or Rigging. This is where you'll typically find options to customize which bones are kept and which are        removed.
Adjust the settings as needed to retain essential bones and remove unnecessary ones. This can simplify your character's rig and make it more manageable.

Thanks
Ravikant
