I'm pretty new to iClone 8 and it's been a frustrating start while working on my first project. It consistently freezes after I attempt to undo a camera adjustment, motion or just about anything else. It also freezes after I attempt to press cancel in the point light color selection menu. After force quitting, when trying to reopen the project, it always freezes at 23% during the "converting data" stage of attempting to load the project. Of course this is especially distressing because I'm pressing to meet an impending deadline and have lost days of time restarting or troubleshooting.I've restarted the CPU, made sure iClone is updated, reinstalled my GPU drivers, opened iClone in administrative mode, and attempted to open restored files of the project, but I still have no success. I'm praying this will be an easy and common fix. Again, I'm new to this and appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thanks!13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz, 32 GB RAMWindows 11 ProNVIDIA 4070 Ti

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your project.

It could be that the project file is corrupt or has become too large or resource heavy for iClone to open and remain stable.

Do you have a backup of the project or an earlier save that you can load to see if the issue is with just with the one save file? You can also try loading one of the sample projects that come with iClone and see if the same issues occur with that. Trial and error is often the best way to narrow down the cause of the problem.

It is also important to remember that project sizes are not infinite and it is important to manage project sizes and complexity to maintain a stable environment inside iClone. Generally it is always better to have two or more small projects making up your scene rather than one super large project. Smaller projects are easier to manage and reduces the chance of issues occurring like you have mentioned.

Thanks for you quick reply. I am able to open other smaller projects so it looks like you may be on to something with the file size. Unfortunately I don’t have any smaller sizes restore points due to an unfortunate series of events. 😭 The project is 3 GB. Would that be considered large? Either way, it looks like I’ll have to start over and break up the video into smaller sections. Thanks for your help and I’m open to any other thoughts you or any others may have. Thank you.

3GB is a fairly large project. More important though is the number of polygons as well as the size of textures used for the various objects and characters.

An important factor in all this is the amount of VRAM. The GTX 4070Ti has 12GB and that sounds like a lot but could easily be filled up with a large project.

You could try the Quick View setting and see if you can now load your project.

Thanks for your reply. Quick mode was a good idea, but it unfortunately didn't work. I really like the software and work well with it when it's cooperating. I feel like tips from you guys have helped me restart a little better equipped. Thanks for your help and I'm back at it splitting the project up into smaller chunks. Hopefully this works!
