I have a question: Will these work with any CC3+ character? I don't have the toon characters and I'm not particularly interested in them.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Yes, it works on any CC3+ character, Animagic,.
You will need CC4 and the Ultimate morph bundle for all the morphs to work properly.

Here is a step-by step walk through the process:

1. Load and select the Aaron CC3+ Toon character in CC4
2. Open the Facial Profile Editor window.(found in the Animation tab or press F8)
3. Now open the facial editor by clicking the he ‘Edit expression’ button and go to the ‘custom’ tab, at the bottom of the window and click on it.
4. You’ll be able to see all 140 custom expressions here.
5. You can now save the Ultimate Expressions facial preset - by clicking on the save icon near the top of the window.
6. Save the file anywhere on you PC
7. Now load in your own CC3+ character. If you have a CC3 character, you will have to convert to a CC3+ character first.
8. Once loaded go back into the custom tab of the facial profile editor.
9. Make sure the character is loaded with the CC4 extended face profile (by clicking on it)
10. Now you can load the Ultimate Expression face profile onto you character by going to the load folder near the top and clicking on
the file you saved earlier.

And your character will have access to all the facial expression sliders. You may have to tweak some of the expressions to make them less exaggerated and more realistic. That can be done by not pulling the slider to the max.

May sound like a lot but once you have the Ultimate Expressions profile saved , you only have to follow the last three steps to apply it to any other character.

Video tutorial is coming.

Appreciate the interest in the products and happy to answer any other questions you may have.

I'm very interested in your expressions pack, but I'm not into toon characters.

When I tried to buy your expressions packt, there was this note:

The base content are not available in Marketplace. Please purchase from Content Store.
Cartoon character designer - Toon figures

When I click on the link, it refers me to the $129 piece of software which I don't own. Do I have to buy this to make Ultimate expressions work?

By toystorylab - 2 Years Ago
You definitely will have more customers if you make this with neutral characters and as easy to use as "Digital Soul"...
So if we buy the pack we can drag and drop directly from the pack and it works with every standard CC3+.
And, although I have that pack, surely not as a derivate of another pack...
By Galfridus - 2 Years Ago
I too am not interested in the Toon aspect of this but following the reply to Animagic I went a head and bought the pack.

I do not have the stated Reallusion Toon character pack but followed the instructions with the trial (watermarked version) of Aaron.
I was able to create the Ultimate Expressions facial preset in CC4 following the instructions and apply that profile to my own custom CC3+ characters without any watermark appearing. I enjoyed using the new ultimate expression sliders on my own characters in CC4.

What is less clear to me is the best practice for transferring and using my expression enhanced avatar back in Iclone 8.
Please could we have some clear instruction on how to add and use the expressions there?

regards
Geoff.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Thanks everyone for your comments.

Galifridus, thank you for the purchase :)
As Galfridus, pointed out you don't have to have the toon figure set to use the facial expressions. I tested it with the Kevin character, before publishing it and it worked perfectly.

Galfridus, you simply have to send your character to iClone from CC4, once you applied the Ultimate expressions.
The new expressions will be found under the FACE KEY tab inside iClone.

To access this tab
1. Open the Animation tab, then
2. The click on the "Face KEY" tab,
3. Inside the face key editor window select the "Modify" tab.
4. Inside the Modify window you will find all your face keys, including the custom ones,
5. Open the custom tab (near the bottom) and you should see the 140 Ultimate expressions sliders.

Unlike CC4,  iClone does not feature the reference images next to the slider but you can either do a search for the following categories -

* "positive" - for all the Positive Expressions
* "negative" - For all the Negative Expressions
* "mouth" - For the mouth only expressions
* "eyes" - For the eye expressions only
* "brow" - For editing the brows
" "eyelashes" - for editing and manipulating the eyelashes.
* "face" - to bring up the four face shape morphs
* "unconscious" - To bring up the expressions for breathing and other unconscious actions; or
* "set" - to bring up all the facial parts you can tweak to correct the expression, like the brows, lashes, lips, etc

Otherwise, I attached.
a) The entire list of expressions (with images) and a
b) A Comprehensive Reference sheet in the order they appear, make it easier :)

Happy animating :)

I also bought the pack as the promo 30% off + RL Prime made it 16,- $...
The process of saving the expressions, add as custom is easy.
After that I sent my character to iClone and the expressions are available in Face Key Modify Custom.
Unfortunately the "eye occlusion" does not follow the morphs...
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/8b9849e2-1ee4-4aa8-8d02-ca04.png
Adding those custom expressions also make "eye occlusion" not work on "Digital Soul".
I hope the dev will work on this.
But this is a nice additional pack...
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Glad. you're finding it helpful, ToyStory.

Sorry, about the "eye occlusion" issue. I do most of my animations with "toon-style" characters and render them inside Unreal, so I have not picked up on that problem.
Will do some investigation around that.

Sorry, about the "eye occlusion" issue. Will do some investigation around that.

Yeah, that would be cool! Otherwise this really is a nice pack...

Thank you Trender 3D for the very prompt and helpful instructions.
Working nicely now for me in Iclone8.:D
regards
Geoff.

By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Happy to hear that it’s working 😊
By argus1000 - 2 Years Ago
Trende3D, after fumbling with it for a half-hour, I made it work without the Toon software.  I imported everything in iClone. Every expression registers nicely in the expression track.  Thanks for this nice addition!
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Really glad to hear that you got it working, Argus.
By argus1000 - 2 Years Ago
Trended 3D, when I bought your plugin, I had to go past warning that I was missing some software and that I would see watermarks on my renders. 0f course that didn’t happen, but it might deter some potential buyers for you.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Thanks for the Heads up, Argus.

Yes, those warnings are automatically set by Reallusion for those who don't own some of the items in the purchase pack (i.e. Toon figure set or Morph packs).
I may have to edit the expressions for Kevin and sell it without the toon character, to get around this one.

Appreciate your input.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey there everyone,

I want to start by thanking all of you who purchased the pack - the reception to the pack has really been great.

So, it took a big longer than I anticipated but I finally managed to complete the tutorial, as promised.

The Youtube tutorial covers the following:
1. The Installation Process;
2. What's inside the Pack;
3. Analysing the Aaron Character and Outfit;
4. How to access the ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS;
5. How to apply the ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS onto your own Character; and the
6. Requirements to export the AARON character and EXPRESSIONS

By toystorylab - 2 Years Ago
Thanx for that detailed tutorial...
I notice you mention the "eye occlusion" issue.
Though you state it is not related to your product...
Unfortunately it is...
Eye occlusion works fine/follows expression with Digital Soul on Kevin.
Though as soon we apply "ultimate expressions" to Kevin, eye occlusion is "broken" with Digital Soul.
It would be cool if you can do some more research as for me this really is a bummer.
Again, the expression pack itself is cool!
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey, Toystory,

Thanks again for your support and comment.

My sincerest apologies if the "eye occlusion" issue came across as inconsequential to me. That was not really the point -  I was just pointing out that it's not something that I can fix. Only Reallusion can sort this one out.

I just put through a request (using the feedback tracker) for the Reallusion team to look at it. Any votes on this issue will help.

Hm, as said, Digital Soul and eye occlusion work fine.
Though as soon we apply your custom ccFacialProfile it is broken.
So not sure if RL is the one that needs to fix this...
In your Feedback Tracker "This even happens when applying the Digital Soul Expressions" might be misleading
and I guess RL will reply and say they can not reproduce this as it only does not work after applying you profile.
I'm not into these technical details at all, maybe the problem is that you used your custom cartoon character,
which has no eye occlusion, to build those expressions?
Fact is, you made a great expression library and we can delete eye occlusion.
Though if there is a way (either on your side or RL side) to make that work too, I would be very happy!

EDIT
I voted Feedback Tracker and added a comment...
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
You are correct, Toystory. I just tested it again.

The reason the Eye Occlusion is not animating with the facial expression is because my Toon Character did not have an Eye Occlusion when I create the face morphs.
I may need to retract my Feedback. Sincere apologies.

Appreciate your vote though :)
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey there ToyStory,

I figured out how to fix the Eye Occlusion (and Tearline) with a couple of clicks.

1. Load your character
2. Apply the ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS
3. Pull up one of the expressions sliders.
4. Now select your eye occlusion (in the scene tab)
5. Click on the MODIFY tab
6. Then click "RESET MESH" (and that fixes it :)
7. You can now simply SAVE the Expression by going back to your Expression (Inside the Facial Profile Editor) and click the little lightning bolt.

I would suggest you "RESET MESH" for the Tearline as well (before you save the Expression)

I figured out how to fix the Eye Occlusion (and Tearline) with a couple of clicks.

Oh... Sure, a bit tedious but a workaround... Thanx!
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Thanks ToyStory,

Now that I figured out the problem, I will be amending all the expressions to include the animation of the Eye Occlusion.
So stay turned for the next pack Update.

By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey there, everyone.

I appreciate all your input here and have worked hard at making this pack the best it can be.
So, using your feedback, I just gave THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS PACK a major update:

Here are some of the new inclusions and features:

1. INCLUDES NEW PROJECT FILE
I added a new project file for Kevin, with his own set of ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS.

2. TWO FACIAL EXPRESSION PROFILES
You'll also find two Drag-and-drop Facial profiles.
One for a Toon-style character (optimized for Aaron) and one for a more realistic Character (Optimized for Kevin).
Now applying it to your own character is as simple as dragging and dropping it, inside iClone. You'll find the two face profiles in the Actor/Face Profile/Ultimate expressions folder.

3. TWO CHARACTER FILES
Upon request, I also included the fully dressed Aaron and Kevin Characters with the ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS already applied.

4. EYE OCCULSION and TEARLINE MESH FIX
The Kevin Character comes with his Eye occlusion and Tearline mesh and these are now able to animate with the expressions. So, if you have a character with the eye occlusion and tearline, simply drag-and-drop the Kevin ULTIMATE EXPRESSION onto your character. Edits in CC4 may require the Eye-occlusion and Tearline to be updated by clicking the "Remesh button but this covered in the detailed Tutorial eblow

5. A NEW EXPRESSION FOLDER SYSTEM
To make finding the necessary expression easier, I put them into 8 different folders, including.
1. Face Shapes
2. Positive Emotions
3. Negative Emotions
4. Viseme - Mouth Closed
5. Unconscious Actions
6. Upper Face
7. Fower Face; and
8. Position Sets.

With all the new additions, I decided to rename this pack to the ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS BUNDLE.
As requested in the forum, I will be marketing a Kevin ULTIMATE EXPRESSSION PACK for those who only want the more realistic facial expressions, without any characters.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions or suggestions.

Here is an updated video detailing everything mentioned above.

By toystorylab - 2 Years Ago
Cool, though a redownload did not bring those new/changed files...
The pack is also not listed in "updates".
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey, ToyStory

Not sure why it's not showing up as an Update - will take that up with Reallusion. I have in the meantime sent the revised pack through, as a message, to all those who purchased it.
Have a look at your messages and let me know if you encounter any issues.

Trender3D

By toystorylab - 2 Years Ago
Thanx for efforts!
Unfortunately there is a lot missing after redownload...
No project files and no characters in IC as stated on product page.
And no facial profiles in CC...
So something went wrong in packaging.

By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Thanks for the feedback, ToyStory

I just had a look at the contents in the pack on my end and can confirm that it's all there and should be available. I have sent the Reallusion Development team a message to hear what the problem could be.

Based purely on the thumbnail (in your video), it looks like you're re-installing the older pack -
Can I ask you to please try the following:
1. Uninstall the pack
2. Now download and install the updated pack from the Product page...
THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSIONS BUNDLE - Character Creator/actor | iClone/actor | iClone/motion | Marketplace (reallusion.com)

Click on DOWNLOAD tab; then select the pack (from the tickbox) and you will now have the option of download/installing it via the SMART CONTANT MANAGER or OLD VERSION RLD Install.
Not sure it will work but please try this method and let me know.

Thanks,

Trender3D

By toystorylab - 2 Years Ago
Thanx for efforts, but the "download" from store method did not make a difference...

But no need to stress.
I made my own Profile and adjusted every single slider on the day you sent me the fix with eye occlusion... ;-)
Would be cool though when the download/install works, as I tried the download from store method to no avail.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Working on it with Reallusion. Will let you know as soon as it’s ready.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Hey ToyStory,

So after consulting the Reallusion team (based on your video comments and video) this is what they recommend. Please let me know if this works…

———————————
From the video clip, the user is too fast to click to reinstall, we believe it still downloads the old data.

So ask the user to do this, first, uninstall the pack. Once done, click the "Refresh" button at the top right of the Smart Content Manager to refresh the content state.

The user can also use the "Sync Installed Asset..." option in the Smart Content Manager's right-top menu to sync their content.

After this, only install back the pack. Besides, make sure the user has updated his program to the latest version in the Reallusion Hub.

Hope this help!
Please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

Best Regards

I'm sorry to keep you busy :D
After a refresh in CC, an update for your product appeared, which I did.
Content remained, profiles and character still missing.
Uninstalled, refreshed, now the thumbnail said bundle, not pack.
But after install still profiles and character are missing.

After a refresh in IC, no update for your product appeared...
Uninstalled, refreshed, the thumbnail still says pack.
And after install still projects and characters are missing.

EDIT
I am still on IC 8.22 and CC 4.22 as there is a bug with WAV export in 8.3 which I use on a daily base...
https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/There-is-no-WAV-export-option-in-the-audio-export-menu-in-Iclone-8-3
It was "assigned" 3 weeks ago, but still not fixed!
Though this should not be the reason for my issues updating your product.

EDIT
Now I see that your product states IC 8.3 and above
So, that probably IS the problem...
I hope RL will resolve the WAV issue soon!

By animagic - 2 Years Ago
@toystorylab: As a temporary workaround you could render to MP4 and then use a conversion tool like the free Any Video Converter to render to audio (WAV, MP3, etc.).
By animagic - 2 Years Ago
I'm using 8.3 and when I opened it there was an update. After applying that all additional items were there. I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall. The icon was also correct.
By Trender 3D - 2 Years Ago
Thanks, Animagic. Appreciate the confirmation that it works and I’m glad to hear that the update was seamless.

@ToyStory - I also think that is strange that you can’t render an audio file and voted and commented on the issue.

Yeah sure, but that's an additional step and I need my iClone timeline audio on a daily base.
For the moment the lack of 8.3 only prevents me updating this expressions pack
and I already made a custom ccFacialProfile with working eye occlusion...
I hope RL will fix that bug soon...
