Tell me if i am wrong... when you saved a avatar, wasn't it usually stored in the pose you posed it in ?
Suddenly the avatar thumb shows the pose how you stored it, but when you open it , it opens in the default idle pose ...
Did they change this in the last updates, or is there a setting / option i miss or changed ?

Depends how you save it.
If you save as a Project, then it would keep the pose. Saving as Character would restrore a default pose or assume a pose of the current character (if project is not blank) when you load it back.
It was always like that.
