I would like to be able to OPTIMIZE & DECIMATE my characters from CC4 to use in iClone, yet I cannot because CC4 says I need an export license, is there away to optimize a character from CC4 and transfer it to iClone?

You may be doing something different but I just tried O&D set on LOD 1 and then later with  LOD 2 using the "Kevin" avatar and both seemed to work fine for me.

To add to this, you need the use "Export as iAvatar", which will give you the LOD options.

I would like to be able to optimize and decimate a CC3+ avatar to an avatar that is compatible with motion director in iClone8.  I get the error message "[Level Character] This character contains trial contents.  Please purchase from Reallusion Store"

I presume that this very obscure message is telling me that I have to purchase an export license for something, but I'm not sure what.  Is it just the avatar (Kevin seems to work OK, but not Camila or any other CC3+ character I've tried) or is it everything, clothes, shoes, hair that needs the export license (if that's what it needs)?  I do not understand the reason for requiring an export license to move from CC4 to iClone (if that's what CC4 wants).  Could you help  clear up my confusion.  Or is this a bug and should I just wait for it to get fixed?

I would be perfectly happy generating an iAvitar, but I would like to know what kind of decimated iAvitar would be compatible with Motion Director.

Can you help clear up my confusion, please?

Thanks in advance.

Do you get the error message when you saved the iAvatar as I explained above? When staying within CC/iClone you shouldn't need any additional licenses.

So I just tried this and it works for me. These are my steps:
  1. In CC, select Export iAvatar. A dialog box will open.
  2. In the dialog box, select InstaLOD Remesher, and then set the settings to your liking (I kept it at Normal).
  3. Click Export and select where you want to save the iAvatar.
  4. Open the iAvatar in iClone (it will be of type "Humanoid".
I did it twice with a custom avatar and was able to use both iAvatars in Motion Director.

Thank you so much!  That worked perfectly.  I now have matched sets of avatars: CC3+ (4K), CC3+ (2K), and Humanoid, all based on the same Scan Reality avatars.  We are ready to party!  And just in time for the holidays!  You rock!

If your content have only icontent licence you cant use this feature, you will need at least a standart licence

Thank you for taking the time to comment on this thread.  I only wanted to reduce the polygon count of an avatar to be compatible with Motion Director.  The technique discussed by animagic above (turning a 2K  or 4K avatar into a Humanoid) in this thread accomplishes that.  I have tested the resulting Humanoid avatars on many custom characters, all with standard licenses, since animagic suggested it.   The reduced Humanoids all work perfectly with Motion Director.  They also work perfectly with the Reallusion mocap motion files.  They are completely suitable for low-poly background avatars.  I did not need all the additional features in optimize and decimate that would justify buying an extended license.
