I have a numbers of 4K characters from Reallusion, Scan Labs and others. They all seem to have 4K images for the bodies, arms and legs. However, for the face texture that have 2K (2048x2048) images textures. Does anyone know why this is? I understand that an arm or leg covers alot more surface area than the face (the surface area of the legs are roughly 50% of the entire body surface area). However, the FACE is what we see first. The face is how we recognize others. Why does the face only get a 2K image on an otherwise 4K set of images?
I'm genuinely curious. I thought my renders looked a bit cartoony because of the 2K textures for the face. Though I'm now getting better results with more sophisticated lighting setups and some composite work after each frame. Still, a 4K model should use 4K texture universally, shouldn't they?

Hi Jeff
Most of the 4K .ccAvatars (embedded, Scanlab etc.) will default to a 2K head to speed up loading. However, you can go to Skin > Overall and load the full 4K head skin from there if you want it.

Thanks Peter!
I learn something new everyday! My main character is a CC3+, and I don't see a 4K texture for him. But the ones from ScanLab and the CC3_RTL do have the hires skins. This will make me a (slightly) smarter shopper going forward.

I have a bunch of photos that you can use for headshot. I downloaded them once from this forum, but I can't remember he URL right now.. They are all 1024X1024. But I use a program called Topaz Gigapixel to enhance the resolution up to 8K. https://www.topazlabs.com/gigapixel-ai
It's not free, but it does wonders.

Thanks argus1000. I'll check out that link. I was hoping there was a way to upscale my main character's texture.
