Why is the upgrade cost to CC4 only 16.6% of the full license? This is rather insulting, I bought Reallusion Creators bundle 2 years ago, and now I need to buy upgrades that have a joke of a "discount" on them? Like, really? How can anyone consider this fair the the customers that have already paid for the software. it would cost me $750 to upgrade CC3 and iClone7 to CC4 and iClone8. That is $200 more than the bundle I originally bought!

So true! Sadly I can't justify £500 upgrade for software I've used since iClone 1.5 and the £thousands spent over the last 10+ years! My days with Reallusion maybe coming to an end!

There was a comment some months ago that basically told us that it is planned to reduce the price during sales. I would suggest you wait until Black Friday to get a bigger discount.

SeanPollman (8/11/2022) it would cost me $750 to upgrade CC3 and iClone7 to CC4 and iClone8. That is $200 more than the bundle I originally bought!
That's actually incorrect. It will cost you $599 to upgrade to iClone 8 and CC4.
You also have to remember that you purchased your iClone 7 + CC3 bundle in 2020 for a heavily discounted price. That's 4 to 5 years after iClone 7 released. In 4 to 5 years time you may see similar discounted deals for iClone 8 and CC4. That's how business works. The same applies in other fields. The game industry charges around $70 for a AAA game on release day, but in just a year you can pick the same game up for probably $20.
So if you feel that $599 is too much then can continue to use iClone 7 and CC3 for as long as you wish. Then if a good deal comes along you can upgrade then. However, if you do want to take advantage of the incredible new features we have added in iClone 8 and CC4 (Motion Director for example) then $599 may not be that bad of a deal.
It's also important to note that iClone 8 and CC4 now also includes the features of 3DXchange 7 Pipeline so this is no longer an extra payment.

You should consider purchasing CC4 only for now. It cost $299, Member price ($249). That is $50 more than CC3 Pipeline. You can try CC4 for free for 30 days. That is what I did. Then I bought CC4. I can't afford IC8. I am enjoying the new features of CC4.

The page clearly shows that its $249 to upgrade CC3 to 4, and $499 to upgrade iClone7 to 8. Simple math implies that this is $798

Regardless this upgrade cost is simply ridiculous. Doubling the cost of a software because it has to be paid for twice because a new version adds a few new features is NOT a good deal to anyone but the persons making the software.
Don't even get me started on the restrictions on what can be exported or how the results can be used commercially. That is a whole other tier of stupidity, I honestly wish I had not invested in this software/company.
edit: I see the bundle further below that lowers the price, but my previous points still stand, $600 to upgrade software we already "own" is not a deal at any stretch of the imagination. Full blow DCCs dont cost this much to upgrade between major versions, and those don't come with the insane restrictions Reallusion puts in their TOS.

For me it's:
Subtotal: $599.00 incl VAT 19%: $113.81
Total: $712.81
On top of this, because RL only charge in dollars and no other currency, I have to pay a currency exchange on this amount, typically 5% (35 dollars).
So my actual Total: $748.45 or 729.24€.
It's a hefty price for an upgrade.
Sorry about the formatting. Copy. And paste!

Uh why the hell do I have to pay $80 to upgrade Skingen Premium from CC3 to CC4? From what I can tell it doesnt even add any features. I already own the 4in1 pack for CC3, but it doesnt include Skingen Premium CC4.. this damn company... Maybe if you didnt try to milk your current customers so much, your total customer volume would grow.

If you have SkinGen Premium for CC3 you should have a free upgrade to SkinGen Premium for CC4. For me it worked like that for Packs and Plugins that were updated for CC4.

Well thats good at least. I was able to upgrade some of the addons a while ago, but not Skingen Premium CC4, and in the Trail for CC4, it says I dont have Skingen Premium.
edit: yep none of those work either, guess I cant use them with the "trial" version of CC4.. not exactly encouraging me to like CC4...

There was a special offer that gave me 30% off, which would have paid for the VAT plus given me 10% of the cost, still in my view too expensive, but at least it's not so bad... But sadly the email went to my SPAM folder and I have only just seen it, now that the offer has expired :(
Oh well, maybe another will come again sometime.

If you purchase them separately yes but upgrading both is $599 as I mentioned previously.
Also you actually got the "simple" math part wrong. $249 + $499 is $748 not $798. :Whistling:

Obviously there are restrictions if you are using the trial version, but if you purchase CC4 all your existing CC3 plug-ins will be upgraded to the CC4 versions for FREE. You won't have pay again.

I'm finding this to no longer be the case? I can't get skin-gen premium to upgrade from cc3 to cc4, it's just not possible without going in and purchasing. Maybe there's a bug with my account or the Reallusion Hub?

I bought character creator and many of the upgrades when 3 first came on scene. It's like are you serious about the price of 4! 200 more then I originally paid for 3, that is a joke! It's really sad when a company doesn't support the people who support it! These guys basically took a single program and broke it down into marketable pieces, and then just keep charging you for every new piece that is just part of one comprehensive application.

While it might seem CC4 is expensive, you do have to take into account the powerful new features that have been added since CC3. For example, CC4 now includes the import and export features of 3DXchange 7 which itself was $500 program. You can now import and rig characters from almost any 3rd party source which wasn't possible at all with CC3.
