How to accurately animate for sets in Unreal Engine 5?

Hey guys,

I have spent a few hours building a very detailed set before starting to worry about animations at all. I ended up with the free trial for IClone to see if it works for me. However, I am wondering how to match the animations to the set in UE 5 (or any other 3d program for that matter). I tried using Image Overlays and IClone Props to visualize boundaries, but the images get warped and end up not very accurate at all. Do you have any suggestions for me? I just need to recreate mockup obstacles (walls, door etc) accurately to how they are in UE 5. Is there a simple way to do this?

Thanks!

Try exporting your basic set from UE and import it into iClone. You don't need any textures on it, so the export from UE should be fine, since it does not export textures. Only include the parts that your character(s) need to actually interact with, to save resources.

Select the actors you want to export
then in the menu select Tools -> Merge Actors to create a single static mesh out of it
Right Click on the new merged asset in the content browser:
Asset Actions -> Export to export it as FBX
Import into IClone...
done :D

You may want to look into Live Link. I got into it last year thru the RL indie developer deal and used it a bit for just what you posted.
There are numerous tutorials on it here:

The RL Live Link page is here I think, can't say for sure as RL marketing is rather convoluted to say the least:
