I appreciate seeing Peter comment on many posts and helping them out, but I think having a Discord would be much more accessible and allow the community to help out more with people's questions and share ideas. Let's make a Discord so we can build a stronger community!!

There is already a Discord called Reallusion Users.
Frankly, I find Discord a mixed bag, especially when it comes to finding past information. It's OK for chatting, but I wouldn't want RL to abandon this forum completely.

That's a fabulous idea because they rely far too much on old school forums for customer support and it's not good. If they have a Discord they should at least have folks who know the program enough that they can make tutorials go in and help folks that own iclone.
They could even offer incentive like paying in points since they can't seem to afford real Live chat or Phone service. Those folks could be in locked rooms and when someone has a problem and proves they own the program, or a version of it. they could get real time help. It's very odd that a company wouldn't want the best and most efficient way to help a customer.

I don't see how that is any different from helping people here, which a lot of us do. There is an RL Discord already and I don't see many power users there.

In general, most of the companies that have a certain customer density and provide online services do not provide telephone support. The same goes for epic games. It is even difficult to reach some companies from the support form (like Google) Instead of being useful in this regard, Discord only causes confusion. Since forums are indexed by search engines, it is the best system for solving many people's problems in a lifetime.

It is 2024 guys. They are a software company. They need a Discord. The fact they have to approve comments on this forum alone is absolutely an atrocity.

Every time I come to their site to check for plugin updates I find myself here complaining about how bad the community discourse is because there is no communication. Discord literally has forums now and they are simplified and easily indexed.

It is only the first couple of posts that have to be approved. After that your posts go live immediately. The approval system has stopped thousands of spam, pornographic and phishing messages appearing on the forum. Would you rather the forum be plagued with spam than have the minor inconvenience of having a couple of posts approved?

There is a RL users Discourse and I find that there is a lot of chit-chat, so I don't visit. Only when experienced users with real answers participate it might amount to something.

I see Discord more like an online chat. Pretty much useless for support on individual problems and searching for certain topics and finding answers.
On the other hand, it could be useful for presenting your own projects and getting feedback. But then you can create your own Discord server as well.

I'm not a fan of Discord either. Forums, DMs, and e-mail are enough for me. I already have to "monitor" too many online places as it is.

I can see a lot of people here don't like Discord and that's fine, BUT... considering there's a lot of ways to mod all that kind of stuff like spam among other things, it's one of the best options to keep up to date the community at least lets say plugins/addons. There are ways to make discord detect news/updates from the forum using bots to let the community know. I strongly recommend Discord to be integrated, I recommended this a few years ago and nothing. And since bots can link all the updated stuff (at least the most important updates to x or y subject), those who don't like Discord can still keep using the Forum without missing anything. 🙏
