Breathing

Hey Guys! :-)
Is there any way to apply breathing to animations I have already done?
And if not, will there be in iClone 8?
I have worked very hard in the animating I have done so far, and it has taken me a lot of time for what we are doing.
(This is not a simple film, and it will be 34 episodes once complete.)
So I am not about to just erase everything to "start from scratch", of course.
But breathing would be really nice to have added in to our animations.
Thanks!

Make a morph. It can be added to already animated character.

Put it into T-pose (somewhere at the end or beginning of the timeline).
Send character to Morphs Creator and Character Creator.
In CC apply T-pose, hide all cloth and go to body Mesh Edit Mode
Enable Soft Selection and select chest area. Then move it by YZ gizmo forward and up to simulate inhale. Got to play a bit with settings (bias and radius).
Optionally select and move forward stomach vertices a bit. And you can also work out shoulders.
Un-hide cloth and save as iAvatar.
In Morphs Creator click "+" and choose modified iAvatar you saved from CC.
Delete unrelated sliders (sometimes it picks up hair, shoes... etc)
Set ALL remaining slider to 100% and click Bake button (icon with slices of bread).
Give a name to baked sliders and check "Remove Source Sliders"
Select your Avatar in iClone and from Morphs Creator click "Update Morph to iClone"

Animate breath morph on a timeline.

This is a fastest method and should work just fine, although I prefer to make breath morphs in Blender where I have more advanced control over the mesh when deforming it
Though making Blender morphs can become a pain if cloth mesh is not "clean" (has loose vertices, dissolved faces... etc).

This took a few minutes to make in CC and Morphs Creator.

This is something I've missed from Daz, and I've wanted to do it in iClone, but have been lazy. I need to get wit it.

There is something that I am missing somehow in this.

I cannot get to that end point that is shown in the video clip.

Thanks!

I had to hover over it to show up, but it did now. :-)

I will know next time.  Normally I have just done a search on the title.

But YouTube is not so literal anymore. :-P

I don't see the morph creator in my Character creator, and I do have the pipeline version of CC3

Morph Creator is not listed under CC. It can only be fired up from Animation Tab in iClone and requires 3DX to be purchased.

Hi 4u2ges.

I was able to make my character breathe after he stops running and is out of breath. I've been looking for a long time to be able to do this. The other methods are either too complicated or too time-consuming. Your method is simple and precise Thanks again.

I found your animation very lifelike, good job!

@4u2ges
Thank you for this tutorial, I also needed it!

I have it all, and the Morph Creator in iClone doesn't work the way it does in the video. And in the video, CC is used.I can do the morphs in CC, but in iClone, there is no option. In CC the slider option seems separate from the morphing part and I can't get them to work together. It's like the feature in the video is split between CC and IC.

I am not sure what part you are having a problem with.
CC is only used to deform mesh in Mesh Edit mode and export to iAvatar. Then in Morph Creator, modified iAvatar is imported to calculate the mesh difference and create a morph based on that.
In the video used apps easily identified by the title bar. And here is step by step of the same routine for reference: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost508208.aspx

BTW: I use the same method to import Pose Corrective Morphs from CC to iClone and apply them dynamically when needed.
Only difference is, instead of Mesh Edit you just apply corrective morphs in CC (one at a time).
