I have purchased most iclone v6 and 7 and CC v2 and 3 assets and plugins, but I am confused if I purchase iclone v8 and CC v4 if my previous pipeline version assets and plugins will work in iclone v8 (I don't see anything on the pre order page about previous version plugins (iray, headshot, curve editor, Faceware (I have bought all of them except the Mocap plugin along with most animation and character asset packs)

The pre order page for iclone v8 and character creater v4 is looking like I would have to re-purchase plugins/assets for them to work in iclone v8 and character creater v 4? I do not need another license, but I have to purchase iclone v7 and Character creater v3 again to get iclone v8? Why is there no stand alone  discount coupon to purchase iclone v8 and Character Creater v4 by them selves?

If you bought plugins for IC7, you get the same plugins as a free upgrade. Here is a link comparing IC7 and 8.

Thank You, So essentially I am just goin to buy the iclone v7 and CC v3 (again) and wait for the release to see if all the bugs are worked out for my previous iclone and CC plugins work properly, Thank you again for the list comparison. I guess I will start planning a new upgrade PC build for  the extra licenses

Several things need clarification here.
First, upgrade prices have been published here in the product FAQ section as shown below.

As already mentioned, plugins will be upgraded at no extra cost.

Next, when iClone 8 and CC4 are released you can install them on you present system without having to remove any other previous versions, at the moment I have iClone 5, 6 and 7 installed as well as CC1.5, 2 and 3- you never know when you might need to jump back a version or 2 to get something.

One very important thing to note is that content is NOT backward compatible between versions. While I can load and use assets from iClone 3 in iClone 7 it is not possible to use items from iClone 7.9 in iClone 8 for example. For that reason I always keep my content from each full major version update in separate content folders, just in case.

They did that with iclone v6 to version 7 where I had to use 3dxchange to import a lot of contenent I made, eventually my projects work in iclone v7. I think they will make it backwards compatable eventually. Looking forward to the release from what I have seen on YouTube so far

Not quite sure what you mean.

I've been using iClone since version 2 and never had any serious issues moving content up from one version to the next. Up to version 4 all content assets were .VNS files, version 5 saw the introduction of the .i file format with assets saved according to their type - iProps, iAcc, iProject etc. iClone 5 could open .VNS files, use them and they could be saved using the newer format. Versions 6 and above can't open the older formats, but 3DXchange can, which still made it simple for new users, without version 5, to open older content that was still available in the Marketplace.

Very few companies make their software backward compatible, and in just about every case new software versions can open files saved in an older format - nothing new in that area.
