Dear Character Creator Users,

In WIP I, we demonstrated the huge potential future of inclusive 3D creation by unveiling Character Creator 4’s (CC4) capability to enliven any character and animate any rig.

In WIP II, we’d like to emphasize the freedom of Scalable Expression Editing with the help of 60 to 140 blendshapes. By providing 140 blendshapes to highly control your digital actors in detail, CC4 elevates the exquisite quality of expression nuances. Meanwhile, the mocap data from any device can be used with the standard 60+ blendshapes that makes CC4 a complete pipeline for major 3D platforms.

Besides the ability to automatically identify skin regions for color adjustments, Smart Skin Shader empowers users to create any ethnicity with ease. The latest features can blend portrait and profile pictures in a more natural way, from any distance. We hope these new features enable you to use mocap and the 140 adjustable blendshapes to flexibly build realistic characters in Character Creator 4 and enjoy the freedom of creating your favourite avatars in the metaverse.

You can check the 3D Character Creation & Animation webpage for more information about the free-upgrade offer, feature comparison, and FAQs.

The following functions are featured in the Work-in-Progress video of Part Two :

 Scalable Expression Editing

   - Standard (60) | Extended (140)

▪ Smart Skin Shader

   - Fast Color Alteration

   - Solid Skin optimization

▪ Bake shader color to texture

   - for Live Link or Export

The updated technical document will be published in the middle of February, please be patient and feel free to drop your questions or thoughts here.

We’ll continue introducing more features in the coming months before the official launch in Spring.
As your feedbacks are valuable for us to finalise our products, please feel free to contact our Support Team, or simply join the discussions in Forum.
Our Support Team will collect the discussions and get back to you as soon as possible after the Lunar New Year holiday (Jan.27th - Feb. 6th)

We look forward to hearing your opinions and can’t wait to share the next update with you.

Kind regards,

Reallusion team

I love your software, and I use it all the time, but what happened to the wrinkles in the new version?

Is the scalable expression from 60 to 140 included? Or, is that an additional cost? Do we have to pay for to go from 60 to 140?

Dynamic Wrinkles is coming to Character Creator. However, at this stage of development the final feature set has yet to be finalised so some features may come later in say 4.1. Once the final feature set is finalised we will announce what features will be available in the initial 4.0 release.

The expressions are impressive! Looks very realistic with "Live face"!! :w00t:
I was wondering if the tongue is going to be detected too during "live face"? That would be amazing!

Just a quick question.

I understand that CC4 will have two polycounts for base meshes availible. One will presumably be something like actorcore models.  How many polys will the high resolution avatars be?  Hopefully more than CC3?

The standard character bases and poly counts supported in CC4 are shown below. Of course with non-standard character imports there is no set limits on polycount.

Hi Leoward,

Thanks for the question. The LIVE FACE can only detect the “tongue out” movement, either in iClone 7 or iClone 8. Other movements of tongue are not supported at this moment. You’re more than welcome to submit this 'dream feature' to the Feedback Tracker (or refer to Peter's post here), which would be automatically collected by our development team. Thank you very much for helping us craft our tools :)

Can custom humanoid characters use clothes and props in CC4?

If a custom character is imported into CC4 as a non-standard character type then it can't use the clothes designed for standard characters. However, you can add props to non-standard characters and of course import the character with different clothing from the original source if available.
