-big smile-
see ? they do listen.
another tip- 1 NFTs haven't gone full VR yet - Im going to try an experiment to see if I can get that ball rolling on opensea - but it would be wise for RL to find a way to incorporate their footprint in the Metaverse, where RL is a go to software for animated VR environments.....no one likes these new buzzwords because no one really trusts FB anymore, and the crypto space is currently over run by hackers - but in reality, hackers always flock to the hottest new trends, so it's not a danger as much as it is a signal of a major new trend... - none the less all the deep pockets are supporting it so they can take the nft trend to the next phase. again, no one likes the NFT buzzword, but it doesn't change the fact how much money is being poured into it ....not because of art, but because of it's virtual contract system, eventually the 1% wants to create a sustainable financial workflow using nfts ...to sell real property like cars, houses and life insurance etc... -
aside from 3D assets, RL needs to figure out how to capitalize on the render side of iclone. I've been saying that for years - VR and NFT is the new virtual real estate and if RL can figure out how to sell imagination and art as real estate.......

Interesting news indeed, these meaningful associations of RL with other technology players, which I hope will help the longevity of the company.
@PSD: We all agree and have been saying for years that rendering needs improvement, but I also hope that RL sticks to the basics and doesn't run after each new techno fad, like DAZ (https://nfp.daz3d.com/). Why does "fungible" makes me think of "fungus" ?

actually - I've been reallly enjoying the basic render engine from Iclone lately - it's really a matter of digging into the visual panel and lighting ( and plug in effects )
and the reason that RL should pursue it, is because it's still the wild west and no one has claimed that king of VR renders yet. Not many artists use it, if they let the artists dominate the space first, then many competitors will be thrown into that ring for the go to king of renders in the virtual real estate place.
This is the time to do what google did after aol fell off the map and be that go to guy. the future is coming whether we agree with it or not.

Indeed i'm very happy to see them giving back to the blender community. We are for the most part hardcore geeks who love art. I started noticing the entire iclone 8 stuff when they announced that CC4 would accomodate non -standard character designs (i had no use for CC before this because well i'm not into hyperrealistic stuff and nothing i make is anywhere close to a borring old human ^^). But I will have to look at the rest of the info's as it filters out. There might be an actual point to me using iclone 8.
About the only thing i rarely make is the motion files that was by big money sink for iclone since there stuff was always safe to use etc etc. With the abililty to bring that into blender and use their motion edit system this is like motion builder on sterioids ^^.
Yes I also agree about the metaverse stuff.. the reason i fell down this 3d rabbit hole in the first place when i was like 25 years younger was due to such applications and i needed to figure out how to do my own stuff...

It looks like we are getting the equivalent of a live link to Blender according to an email I just received from Reallusion.
And no....RL should not following DAZ down that retarded NFT path.
Daz ( owned by Tafi) is completely realigning their business model over to an NFT CRYPTO hub.
The Metahumans crushed Daz's last hope of becoming a major provider of realistic Characters for the gaming market so it's understandable that they are seeking new market in NFT/ Crypto.
They have not even updated thier official bridge to work with Blender 3. Reallusion is Wise to further develop its Blender pipeline toolsbeing that Blender is free.

they are not losing tho, look at the volume traded on their opensea account, and that revenue doesn't represent potential commission on a 2ndary market....and they have other nft accounts on other sites. Bitcoin is predicted to hit the 100k mark, and ethereum is predicted to take over bitcoins position in crypto - so if daz plays it like a smart investor they can potentially make a fortune.

animagic (1/13/2022) "I've seen many futures come and go..." :P
Dr. Strange. Although he cheated.. we did it the hard way
In reading it i was happy to see they recognized the render capabilities of Blender and when Evee was created it was great day for me lol. Its like magic all of a sudden they string a bunch of numbers, letters and symbols together.. and out pops a realtime render engine. They had a usable render engine brand new pretty fast.
Anyhow ever since i read that announcement the wheels have been going around in me head. Probably means i will cave and spend lots of money at some point. :Whistling:

I'm not so sure. It's always the gullible who pay the price...

that depends on how daz arranged the deal with the artists - ie if i were daz and i said I'd sell and promote your nft for a commision - what would the agreement be. I don't know daz's exact angle, but they are in a good position to really capitalize on this market and tap into a new audience.
Iclone would be even more powerful because of their ability to render Virtual reality which synergizes with the facebook metavers and each "location" is considered real estate in this business model. so abstractly, RL has the power to become property developers with the right perspective and pipelines.
It's crazy, and it's all about perception ...and ironically the word of the day "relativity" haha!
what is the true value of money ? whatever you imagine it to be.

@PSD: I'm not so much worried about DAZ's arrangement with the artists, but more about those who buy the "art". Of course it's there choice.
Anyway, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. You think it's great, I have serious doubts.

well that's the funny thing about this nft market - it's purely based on fomo and hype - "fear of missing out" - so it comes down to marketing.
The reason all this ugly art is selling for big money, is because it's a collection that was given freely to a popular community - all these guys are excited and happy to be part of this trendy new nft movement .....now 10k people have a unique version of this free image, and one guy says ...oh wow, I have the rarest image of all ....now 10k people are saying ....yoooo....I want that !! no different than having the coolest sneakers in school......
and now the news is covering how that 1 nft was bought by that rich dude who wanted to have the coolest and rarest nft in this thriving community. - suddenly everyone is like OMG - who has the 2nd most rare nft ?? and now you have people collecting all the yellow ones, and raising the value that way, others have all the scifi ones, another one collected all the versions with hats ....all hype how does the original creator make money after giving away all his nfts for free ? by making commissions on 2ndary sales and keeping his collection in the news heh!
yes, if you are not part of that community - you will lose a ton of money for trying to invest in the most popular trend of the moment. - it's really fascinating to study,

you bitcoin nerds ^^. My two cents on the entire bitcoin thing and any other version of it that exists now. It may be a solution in the future but its also simply another generation of ecurrency and we have been here before. It was created to solve certain problems, but in its life so far its actually now got the same problems it was created to supposedly fix. If you listen to people like Elon musk he now admits after its been around for awhile that its not really the right solution.
That being said its fun to play with I suppose, but its also going to cost a of of people a lot of money in hard lessons because these will go away too eventually and for similar reasons the previous versions went away for. So hopefully anyone who uses it doesnt leave their money in that system and converts it so 'old fashioned' money before it has a risk of going poof due to some market crash. Best place for your savings is still a sock in my opinion. Banks have problems and so does this. And the problems are identical

Honestly, I neither am for or against crypto - it was simply a big trend that I started following after I realized how much it's being pushed into the mainstream. I just usually try to have fun with anything I'm studying lol.
The crypto trend runs deeper than the obvious - at it's bottom line is weaponizing currency. - originally, Crypto was designed to combat the centralized bank, the movement started catching momentum, and the banks and governments realized it's potential, so they've since been working at centralizing it - thus all recent bull and bear markets - every time a new billionaire invests and supports, the market goes up, everytime a government puts up a new regulation or some nation outlaws mining it, it crashes - everything else happening in between is really just a distraction. NFT is a just a trend meant to entice more crypto users, it's not really about art, it's about creating demand.
The behind the scenes action has also stepped up as China is creating it's own digital Yuan with the idea of using it as a weapon against the US - I can't say I fully understand how exactly China is planning to do this, but it's known that they are planning it that way because they are making it completely seperate from crypto. asking people to give up crypto at this point, is like asking a super power to give up nuclear weapons. History is being made, but in a way that's not obvious to the general public. We are in whats called a "gentleman's war" in secret society lingo lol.

Crypto currency is here to stay. Daz's so call " Non fungible people" Is a cynical attempt to exploit buyers who don't know how easily Daz Genesis figures and content can be purchased or pirated.
And it's pandering by only releasing non binary & female "NFP" I Guess us hetero males are too "toxic" for the woke rabble

crypto will be a reality eventually, but not this itteration. If you can hoard it and have it acquire value just by sitting there then your bound to go down the same path we have already in 'old fashioned' money. So its an interesting experiment, but the reality is that its also a failed one in this itteration. Some guys will take this information and come up with yet another generation of ecurrency and maybe that one will be better.
Likely the only way we will get a viable crypto currency is with global collaboration of all the majory powers to make it work and it should be err non-hoardable (in that if you hoard it it will go up or down in value ..) and able to be used in any country. Their mistake was attaching it to a stock market sort of deal.

haha oh that too! We had a couple of crypto mining things shut down up north around here. They we causing brown outs at one point.
Maybe if they fixed all the issues with it.. we could get graphics cards again at a reasonable price .. wouldn't that be swell!

if i were to drop my happy go lucky dragon face for a moment, I don't like crypto - i can see a future where they attach your credit and life history to your money, with your dollar being worth less than Bill Gates's dollar. that would be horrible - but murphy's law is in effect here. "Sorry, we only take green dollars, not red, try the ghetto in the next town" I have a theory that aliens gave us tech to slow the evolution of humanity down so our brains would be tender by the time we are able to travel to their galaxies ... haha!
