If a dancing character's hands go inside the body during dance, how can we prevent this? When the hands come to the head or waist, how can they perceive these parts as a hard physique? is there an easy way to do this?

The simple answer is... there is no automatic way for an iClone character to "detect" collisions like that.

QUESTIONS - How are you doing the animation?  Motion capture?  Existing motions you add to the character?  Does your character have cartoonish proportions, like the Hulk or King Kong?

The "best" solution might depend on what your doing, but in general you might simply have to manually move the hands away (and maybe remove a few key frames before and after the time where you fix the collision).

Oh, and pictures might be good too.

with a ready-made dance move, the character's hands go inside the head and waist during the dance. Does anyone know of an easy way other than to fix this manually?

Short answer no. Animations tend to be made for avatar's of a specific generation. If you have the "version" of the avatar that the animation was created for you will probably have less trouble with body-part-collision but some of these animations go back many versions.  As avatar's progress from version to version an avatar's proportions change ever so slightly and collisions such as you describe occur.

It's usually an easy fix manually. Most of the time, at the first frame of the animation, just move the hands a bit away from the body using the "Edit Motion Layer" menu.. it may take all of 10 secs to perform. If necessary you could add more frame adjustments at other trouble spots but usually just adjusting the body part at the first frame of an animation will fix the issue.
