I got the email,  but not exactly sure what it means,  can you please clarify ?   what specificially ?   I was clear on dear developers, policy changes coming,  but lost my way after that lol  :P

Me too ... totally confused ... one sentence says they're shutting down and the next sentence they're talking about a new split ... I emailed developer support for an explanation ...

Hi Guys,  I found the post confusing as well.  They are closing all personal stores in the market place.  What is actually defined as personal store?  The entire post was vague. Lots of unanswered questions about content uploaded to their store. Everyone will have to watch and wait until their plans are completed.  Hopefully, no extra barriers are put in place to discourage new content creators.

There are currently only Personal and Theme Stores in the Marketplace, so where do those assets go?

I have only free items, and they are free because they are as is, without support. So how what that work under the new model?

There should be much more clarity for freebies.

Also, the lead time for this change is way too short. And, another issue is that some developers with useful stuff are no longer around for various reasons, so what's going to happen there?

Sometimes, RL is really infuriating by introducing a change without considering the consequences.

To animagic. It's my own feeling and guess, but I think that it may be a disadvantage because it costs money to operate the maket place site and the operation does not remain. Also, I guess, maybe the ccd asset column will be put together in a different column next to the favorite day dripper (big developer) content in the content store, and PCD and other sitters will be ccd and favorite. May contract under the umbrella of. It's just a feeling and a guess, but if that happens, the cost of operating the site on the operator side may decrease. In the case of free sale, I may report it to the operator side.

This is also a guess, but if you use that method, it may take 2 to 3 weeks or 2 to 3 months to review if you submit it in the content store, as in the case of iclone1 ~ 3. Or do you know if there may be a field that you can submit immediately? ..

Add by guess. In the case of a content store, the old ones disappear after some content is added. Even in the case of that separate frame, some old things such as sales may disappear.

Yes, I'd like some clarity on it all as well.

Does this mean my "biggstrek" store will disappear?  I actually publish via "Propmasters", but I gather and organize everything via my store first.  I guess we'll still have the backend to coordinate stuff?  (And what the heck is a "Theme" store?)

And just yesterday, I went through ALL my content (100+ items) and enabled Export Licenses for them all.  Not a terrible task, but I'd like to know the reasoning for forcing this on us.  Any ideas?

The new profit share ratio is a nice improvement, so there's at least that.  And I already support my own products, so that won't change for me anyway.

Also, I saw a video by Reallusion that says they are doing away with the Content Uploader.  Is this true?  The video was specifically about Character Creator (v4, I assume) doing the uploading from then on.  All well and good, but what about the other assets (props, etc) - and more specifically, older props and effects that I upload for v5.5, v6, etc.

Will I effectively be banned from the Marketplace if I don't own the latest version of iClone (if the Content Uploader is removed)?

Looking forward to some info from Reallusion themselves on this transition.

What's really confusing is that if the Personal and Themed Stores in the Marketplace are going away what's left?
Also, if Personal Stores are being removed then why do they list a new profit split of 70/30 for Personal Stores?
What other kind of stores are in the Marketplace besides Personal and Themed?

There needs to be some major clarification of what these changed entail.

@BiggsTrek: There is currently an option in Smart Gallery to upload content. I don't have access to iClone right now, but there is something like a Developer tab in Smart Gallery.

...which is a plugin for iClone 7+ and CC3+ (neither of which I own as my PC can't handle them.)  So if that's the future, I guess I'm no longer welcome.  :(

EDIT:  Just re-reading the email, regarding the closing of Personal and Theme stores on Jan 3rd.  Maybe they mean FOR THE DAY and not permanently (to upgrade the system to the new rules)?

Now that's a thought. Wish they would have said that it that is what they mean.

Hmm, I am not sure about that. The title of the chapter says "Termination of Theme Stores and Personal Store in the Reallusion Marketplace..." This means more than temp closure for one day.
The question is what would they offer as a replacement?

But frankly, Personal Stores (not sure about Theme Stores) are already looking like an abandoned project. Outdated web design theme (not in sync with the rest of the marketplace), no link to stores anywhere in the marketplace.
Clicking on developer name just bare the search items result by a developer  for particular category (CC, iClone or CA). You can click to change category, but still there is no way to get a complete list of all developer items, or ANY information about developer.
Loosing store? I am very unhappy about that to say the least.

at one point I started wondering if they were shutting down the entire marketplace and going all content store - that's when i thought it was just best to ask and not read into it.  it was funny,  I was just about to push myself to start uploading stuff to my shop again,  and that mail came in just when I started ...I literally just shut down my software and started doing something else.

That's a very good point!

I hope this doesn't mean losing content compatible with earlier versions of iClone too.

I am still on iC6 😳

I do occasionally buy stuff in sales  if it's compatible but that's a very small selection as is.

Does save me money admittedly 🤣
By animagic - 4 Years Ago
The alleged bad design of the Personal Stores is not the developer's fault. I give stuff away through the store and per RL's own EULA that is the only allowable way.

There is also no way other than through the Market Place to acquire individual items. With the price of packs skyrocketing that is still a useful option.

I also agree that developers that use an earlier version of iClone shouldn't suddenly be locked out. There is lots of older useful stuff, including from RL.

I said it once and I will say it again.  Professional standards, communication and organization of the company need to be improved immediately. I want to know the reason for this  sudden change in their policies. The current market place is operating fine so why make any changes to it.  It's a watch and wait game.

Have a great week everyone.

To be honest, I am complicated. There will also be a corona tilt. Well, but I think it's true that the real illusion itself doesn't collapse. The regrettable part is that I remodeled the site a lot like bigboss and Alley, but I crush it! !! And the point. The nice thing is that no matter what you do, you won't be selected as a content store, and maybe you will be selected as a content store with the new system.
The above URL is your own site.

Thanks for all the feedback. At this time I don't have a simple explanation of the plans but I'm endeavouring to get a better understanding from the Marketplace Development team.

What I can say is that the Marketplace is not closing and your stores are not being shut down or content removed. The changes mainly relate to Theme Stores. You can still sell your content in your own stores directly to customers and from next year you will get a higher percentage (70% instead of 60%).

As soon as I know more I will update again. Thank you for your patience.
By planetstardragon - 4 Years Ago
Thank you Peter,  much appreciated. :)

Thank you very much. Peter, the point is to wait calmly. I'm looking forward to a good result.

Hi Everyone

I've had time to clarify things with the Marketplace team and here is what I know.

1. Theme Stores are closing completely. Theme Store owners have been notified about the plans.
2. The Personal Store pages will also be closing down since they look out of the date and there are no plans to update them. An example of a Personal Store page is linked below.

https://marketplace.reallusion.com/store/iclone

3. In the future developers content will be displayed in the Marketplace by Author as linked below. Customers looking for content can just click on the author's name to view all the published content.

https://marketplace.reallusion.com/iclone/author/Reallusion%20iClone

So for example for GarryPye, customers can easily find the author via a content thumbnail (see below) or by searching for their name.
https://marketplace.reallusion.com/cartoon-animator/author/garrypye

https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/72ff5aac-e3b3-4c89-bab3-071a.png

I hope this helps to explain things a little better.

Hmm, a basic developer home page with info and option to subscribe and be notified and about new releases could have been made and integrated into current web theme.
Oh well....

Peter, really ... it's a tough decision. There is no way.

It already works, sort of. I tried this: https://marketplace.reallusion.com/iclone/author/animagic.

It would be nice if we could at least add a personalized banner or something, like I used to have (https://marketplace.reallusion.com/store/animagic).
By garrypye - 4 Years Ago
Peter thanks for the update. Its nice to get information based on fact from those in the know rather than listening to speculation from those who dont.
Like many people, change always worries me. But even though it can take a bit of adjusting to, change can often be a good thing and Im sure the changes Reallusion are making to the structure of the Marketplace are all done with the best intentions and plans for helping developers find success. Independant developers are a HUGE asset to Cartoon Animator that offer choice and styles we would otherwise never get to work with.
I believe those developers who are truly passionate about their art will make it work regardless of the changes. As someone who makies their living from the 2D Marketplace as a content developer, Id prefer stay positive and embrace the changes as an opportunity to rework my brand and increase my audience.
By Olga(AWS) - 4 Years Ago
The main thing is that there is a convenient search in the marketplace. If I'm looking for a props or a hero for my project, I want to see all the possible options of all the developers.
By coolhewitt24 - 4 Years Ago
Reallusion was able to provide a little bit more information with their posts in the forum however digital property remains an unclear issue.  What happens to all the digital property from stores in the market place after the store has been deleted.

By coolhewitt24 - 4 Years Ago
I would have uploaded about 15 new characters but creating a new store might be too much extra work. A sample of my newly create content.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/82df9fcf-cd06-4697-8a0a-a385.jpg

When I saw the schedule of the realization policy, Mr. Peter first, as Mr. Peter said, the personal and main of Market Plus disappeared, all were written and divided into developers, the percentage can be changed, there is one point, and sitter management provides Those who are remodeled, that is, who sell, can get a list of developers, accept and manage many sitters by customer management, and sitters get a chance to flock to a large store. Even if some people are wondering if the conventions and development are okay, the sitter setting will start on December 15, 2021 and will be implemented on January 3, 2022, there are two points, and the ultimate is iContent and export. Selling two columns and exporting must be sold at a price less than 1.5 times that of iContent. With the release of iClone 8 and Character Creator 4 in 2022. There are 3 points. There are quite a few pluses and minuses, but the rest depends on the skill of the developer. This sentence is written in both Japanese and English. Please make good use of it on the translation site.

The Reallusion Marketplace theme store and personal store will be officially closed on January 3, 2022. A big advantage for all developers is that from January 4, 2022, the profit sharing ratio will be adjusted from 60/40 to 70/30 (70%: content developers / 30%: Reallusion). I will add. Supplement.
