It seems you can upgrade both iclone 8 and cc4 for $100 more if you buy $800 worth of products but the upgrade price is about $700.00 full price and $600 upgrade price...if you wait for the launch...what am I missing... the price upgrade doesn't make sense, (it is located on the purchasing faq page question #7 upgrade price column.) please explain...and it is not a free upgrade you are paying more for it... thanks Thanks Peter for clarifying that, I have some items that I want so I will probably be getting the products free anyway.

Hi...
If you spend $799 or more on software or content during the pre-sale period then you will get iClone 8 and Character Creator 4 FREE. If you don't want or need any additional software or content then you can upgrade to both iClone 8 and CC4 upon release for $599. That is a $200 difference, but with the pre-sale offer you are getting $800 of software and content PLUS iClone 8 and CC4 so that is obviously the best deal.

And those who have Iclone 7 and cc3 can continue to keep it or are they going to have to switch to cc4 and Iclone 8?

Will the upgrade come out before the end of 2021? If we buy the additional software and products how long will we have to wait before we can use it in the new software?

santumedina1984 (11/2/2021) And those who have Iclone 7 and cc3 can continue to keep it or are they going to have to switch to cc4 and Iclone 8?
Yes you can keep iClone 7 and CC3. You can then install them on a different computer if you wish or even keep them on the same computer until you get used to iClone 8 and CC4.

Peter (RL) (11/2/2021) Hi...

So... when I upgrade for the 600.00, does that upgrade ALL the extras and plug-ins I have purchased? Or will I need to upgrade those one by one? For example.... LEAP, the facial mocap, and so on....
I think I have read that if you spend the 800 that all of that is included... I have purchased just about everything offered..... Not really sure if I can spend 800.00 on content. Seriously... I have purchased a ton of stuff here... along with CA, CC and IC.... This could get quite pricey if so.
Has anyone here been beta testing? Actually played with the new features? The demo looks great. Wonder how buggy it will be... Also wondering about the Xbox controller... is that the newest version of their controler? It looks so much different than mine. Will that work with the regular Xbox One controller (or what ever the last model was before this new one).
Excited to try the new features. Of course... my lack of patience wants it now..... LOL! :D

I have a question on upgrade price: Will people who have 3dxchange get additional discounts on the upgrade price, seeing as how it is now integrated into the programs? Consider: 2021 Year End Treats | Reallusion
Product | Pre-sale Campaign | Regular Price | Upgrade Price | CC4 | Spend $399+, Get CC4 for Free | $299 | $249 | iC8 | Spend $699+, Get iC8 for Free | $599 | $499 | CC4 + iC8 | Spend $799+, Get CC4+iC8 for Free | $699 (Value: $898) | $599 |
- iClone 8 ($599) : With partial 3DXchange Pipeline integration (Value $499) and Curve Editor (Value $149). Check out iClone 8 vs iClone 7
- Character Creator 4 ($299): With partial 3DXchange Pipeline integration (Value $499). Check out CC4 vs CC3
I have: iClone 7 (Regular Price: $199. Upgrade from iClone 6: $129) Character Creator 3 (Regular Price: $199. Upgrade from CC2: $129) 3dxchange Pipeline 7 (Regular Price: $499. Upgrade from 3xchange Pipeline 6: $299). Curve Editor Plugin for iClone 7 (Regular Price: $149. Member Price: $79).
According to the chart above, if I have iClone 7 and CC3, the upgrade price is $599. However: iClone 7 and CC3 (Regular Price: $398. Upgrade from IC6 and CC2: $258) iClone 7, CC3, 3dxchange Pipeline 7, Curve Editor (Regular Price: $1046. Upgrade from previous versions: $636).
So basically, if there is NO extra discount for people who previously bought 3dxchange or curve, then people who bought: iClone 7 and CC3 ONLY (paying $258-398) will pay the SAME upgrade price as those customers who bought: iCone 7, CC3, 3dxchange Pipeline 7 and curve editor ($636-$1046), and thereby paid 2x-3x as much!
Yet, both parties will get the same products with the same functionalities, and the optional (expensive) plugins would count for nothing. Perhaps as a reward to loyal customers who paid more in the past, thereby supporting Reallusion and the development of these new products, Reallusion might consider additional discounts on the upgrade price.
Something to sincerely think about.

Oh hell... I just bought 3dexchange recently... Didn't even think about that one. It took me almost a year to accumulate all this. I may be stuck with these versions for a while. :( I also see that SkinGen, IRay, and Headshot require additional... YIKES!. Maybe I should just write to Reallusion and have them give me a total for my products upgrade... I am not sure what is and is not included with my software anymore. My original purchase of CC was a packaged deal.
Maybe I'll wait till version 5 and 9 or 6 and 10. If upgrading is going to be close to what I just paid, I might as well wait for a while and get a bigger return.
OR
Hopefully they kept them backward compatible so we can still use these additions.
ALSO
Does anyone know if CC4 will work with iClone7 if I were to just update that for now... or if CC3 works with iClone8 should I do that one first? Or do both only work with the new upgrades? And if they are backward compatible, will it be like it is now? where they work sometimes they need adjustments or tweaks for the newer version.

I've been saving for a couple of years in anticipation of IC8. I just purchased the requisite amount of software and merchandise, including Headshot and Hair & Beard Builder, Modern Cars Combo, and Nature Terrain Builder. It cost $200 more than a simple upgrade would have. But it feels pretty good having the software and content I 'couldn't afford' because I was saving for for IC8. Now I have both. So, I am happy about this offer. That was my experience, anyway.

That's a good way to do it. I've been a customer almost 10 years (it'll be 10 years in March). In that time, I've spent over $6,500 US on software and content, not including what I spent in the marketplace. I bought CrazyTalk Animator 1,2 and 3. CrazyTalk 8 pipeline. iClone 6 and 7 with 3dxchange pipeline. Character Creator was originally free, but I bought CC2 and CC3 Pipeline. I think I've been a very loyal customer during the last 10 years.

iClone: Motion LIVE Plug-in, all mocap profiles for Motion LIVE Plug-in, iClone Unreal Live Link, PopcornFX, Iray Render Plug-in Character Creator: Headshot Plugin, SkinGen Premium Plug-in, Iray Render Plug-in.

You would be able to use CC3 to create characters for iClone 8, but characters created in CC4 will not be compatible with iClone 7 because of the new character formats used.

I understand that everybody needs to make some money for living. But these prices are out of my reach. I am in IC since V4 as a hobby user. But now I am disabled, I have to live on a budget. So these prices are beyond my Horizont, I stay with what I have, just being sad, because I recently bought CA4 Pipeline and now have to learn, it is already outdated. Should have skipped that.... Whatever, I stay with the old versions, I do only hobby Movies anyways.

Cartoon Animator 4 is not outdated. That is the current version. No announcement has been made about a new version.
Regarding iClone, you can continue using your current version for as long as you wish. It will continue to be supported. However, you may find at some point a special offer becomes available that puts an upgrade to the newest version within your budget. :)

Great point, many of us have invested heavily into Reallusion products since inception.
A loyalty program would be a great way to show appreciation to those who helped support the company from the start. A tiered upgrade would be a big thank you to the long-term loyal. Perhaps $20 break for each pro version purchased and upgraded which many of us have multiple times.
In my mind we should qualify as Elite Customers.
Thanks for being our intermediary Peter..

Right? Trying to upgrade my video card... not an easy task these days... nothing in stock and what is available is double retail, if not more with some sellers.
But hey... at least Reallusion is giving you an option unlike other companies that charge you a monthly fee to use their software. Adobe, Autodesk and so many others following that format... so not only are you upgrading your system, you are also paying out monthly fees on top of it. With Reallusion... you can choose to upgrade or keep using what you already have.
I don't like being a slave to monthly fees. Don't we have enough of these? Rent, utilities, car payments, insurances, bla bla bla.... and now... software. If you use auto pay you really don't realize how many payments you submit every month.... Imagine having to write a check for every payment you make each month. Write an envelope, lick a stamp...... Ah.... the good old days. LOL
I like that once purchased I can use it forever or upgrade as needed. Thanks Reallusion for giving us a choice! :D
I do not mind paying for an upgrade to be honest..... A lot of work went into those upgrades and bills need to be paid. Of course I would hope that the upgrade would be a fair one vs purchasing new. And yes, it would be nice to be credited with a lower upgrade as some of the extras we paid for are now included. Having to pay for that again in the upgrade price would be a little harsh.
It will be what it will be. Once it is released we will know for sure. Fingers corssed.

Agree, that's indeed a positive thing. I wouldn't mind a monthly fee if those services included a fallback license the way companies like Cascadeur or IntelliJ do, where you can subscribe for one version or year and if you stop subscribing the next year at least you keep the last version you paid for, but Adobe, Autodesk, Marvelous Designer... they are just renting their software and as soon as you stop paying you have nothing, no matter if you paid a big amount of money over years of monthly subscription payments. At least Reallusion is not doing this, but let's not give them any ideas xD

The copy of CC4 you get free if you spend $399+ is the full standalone version. You don't need to own a previous version to be able to use it.

If I were you, I would add the v2 bundle with CC3 to my cart. It will cost a lot if you buy the bundled gifts and add-ons separately. CC3 comes for free. If headshot, skingen, ultimate etc. If you don't have them, it will cost you a lot to buy them separately. But of course, you need to buy 1 more software with it. Their gifts are pretty good if you add iClone. If you add Cartoon Animator, his gifts are fine too. Of course, if you only think about cc4, it doesn't seem like it would be harmful to buy add-ons and content. This is a strange situation and requires very good calculation.

The longer I deal with Reallusion and their marketing schemes, the more it reminds me of walking into a car salesroom,. By the time you have made it past the promotions, special offers, what comes extra and what comes standard, the part you can substract from your invoices and the extreme fine print of the terms and conditions, you've forgotten exactly what car you wanted.
For example when I used to have to explain to to others that the curve editor in iclone was an addon and not included in the base price, it sounded crazy even as I was explaining it. And now out of the blue it is part of the base package, only you have to pay for it again!
An upgrade where you only get a 25% discount is of a similar order of complexity to explain to anyone.
Just my two cents !

Thank you for the feedback. I have passed your points to the sales team for review and consideration. Hi, Peter! Out of curiosity, was there any response on this? As I pointed out, 3dxchange 7 pipeline cost more than CC3 and IC7 put together. 3dxchange functionality will now be integrated into CC4 and IC8. Wouldn't it make sense for reallusion to reward those customers who paid the extra big bucks for 3dxchange? I realize though, that it's not your decision. No hard feelings towards you either way. Just figured it wouldn't hurt to pursue it.

It's a different model from Sunstance, Zbrush, CD4 and all the others for sure. Even though it may feel like we're being nickel and dimed, for me personally who spends around 20K a year on licensing, I appreciate the one and done nature of Reallusion. Because they don't force us to be on a monthly plan I totally get their pricing structure. But I hear what you're saying!

I decided to spend the amount needed for the free upgrade because I wanted some packages but I got others that I might wont be using them.
Well, let's see what Reallusion will come to old costumers... :-)
One positive aspect is the fact it's only a one time fee and that is really important to me. That's the reason I use RL and the free alternatives (Blender, Unreal, ...)

Think they'll answer before the promotion ends this year? Considering all the extra's I've bought over the years, these upgrade prices feel rather extreme. Seems like a good deal if you actually need content and can afford it, however I was just going to do enough for CC4, thinking IC7 Would not be incompatible.. Now I learn IC8 is required to use CC4 characters and that 3DXChange owners don't aren't getting any deals, unless the announcement says otherwise.
Now I'm wondering if I should have just spent nothing and stuck with CC3.. What about these Scan Reality characters, are they going to be updated to CC4's format or are thing going to be outdated somehow when it comes IC8's new features?
Requiring IC8 to use CC4 characters feels like a big hidden "GOTCHA".
Thanks.

I think iC8 will support CC3 characters. But iC7 may not support CC4 characters. I'm not sure, just guessing. As you said, I don't think that a new promotion will start before this promotion ends. I really needed the content and I joined this campaign by pushing my budget very very very hard. For 3DXChange owners, a $99 gift is given if you qualify for new programs. I hope there will be a few more of these gifts. After the promotion ends, even if the new promotion starts, no matter how low the upgrade fee is for the programs, it was a better deal for me to buy content (even if I was way over my budget) instead of paying for the programs.

It has always been the case that the latest version of the software was required for the latest generation of characters. For four years this has been through free updates of iClone 7 and CC. But I guess there is always something to complain about.
CC3 characters (and earlier) can be used in IC8. In fact, most earlier generations of characters will still work (before CC characters).

And always an excuse for someone to make remarks like that. Do you feel better now? Give yourself a nice pat on the back? I didn't even ask if CC3 characters work in IC8. I asked if Scan Reality characters would be updated to take advantage of whatever it is that makes CC4 characters unique and incompatible with IC7.

I only have 2 scan characters given for free because it is expensive. Scan Reality characters already work with the latest CC and are quite expensive. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be updated to CC4. You can ask the same question for Actorcore characters. We don't even know if these characters require a major update from CC3 to CC4. Peter wrote that in general the contents will be updated to new versions of the programs. However, it did not list the names of the contents to be upgraded.

Looked through e-mails again and spotted the deal for 3DXchange 7 Pipeline users. It is a reasonable deal indeed, though it's not mentioned or reflected on the page that shows you what you've qualified for, so a bit confusing.

Yes, to qualify for the free gift you need to own 3DXchange 7 (previously purchased) and spend at least $399 in the software and/or content store. If you spend $699 or more in the content store, you also qualify for the 40% 2022 elite coupon that you can use unlimitedly in 2022 and only in the content store.

There has been quite a lot of confusion over this email.
To clarify, the email being received by 3DXchange 7 Pipeline owners is offering a free bonus content pack called ""Motion Director Theme Pack" (Value $99) if you spend $399 or above during the pre-sale period. Sadly it is not offering iClone 8 and CC4 if you spend $399+ as many have thought.
So to confirm, you will still need to spend $799+ if you wish to receive both iClone 8 and CC4. Spending $399 will get you a free copy of CC4 when it is released plus the above mentioned content pack.

Ughh, thanks for clarifying that. I even made the decision to spend more money based on that e-mail, instant regret.
Wait a second, the free bonus for qualifying for CC4 also needs IC8 to use? Can I trade in the Motion Director Theme Pack to knock off $99?!! hah.
Still seems like a pretty big jump in price compared to what I paid to upgrade before. Maybe they're not expecting to attract many new customers at the full price?

Look at all the free upgrades IC7 has given to its' users. Acculips, SkinGen, Hair Builder, with free hair, beard and mustache samples. The last contest RL did, there were a lot of free clothes samples and some free avatars. If you give 3 reviews per month, you got a 1000 DA points every month for the past 4 or 5 months. All of those free upgrades cost RL $$ in R & D, and they gave it all away for free. What you bought 5 years ago for $200, does not cost $200 now. CC3 came in 2 versions, a free one and a Pipeline version. The pipeline version of CC3 is going from $199 to $299.for CC4. And IC7 from $199 to IC8 $599 (that includes parts of 3DXChange). If you are a member, you get a discount. And in the Marketplace, you can try the items, before you buy. And that saves you $$ from buying stuff if you don't like it. In the end, RL does save you $$ and also gives you great deals. Computers cost you more $$ now, than 5 years ago. IC itself has not gone up that much in 5 years. People bought a lot of add-ons and extras, and now they want to be compensated for that. Nobody made you buy the extras. I don't buy the extras, I buy what I need and use.

The email sent to 3DExchange users is misleading to say the least. It quite specifically indicates anyone who purchased 3DExchange before October would be the first to receive iclone 8 and CC4 with the Motion Director Theme Pack being in addition too the main applications as indicated below.

In addition there is a nice illustration confirming this.

The small print further confirms the suggestion we would receive IC8 and CC4.

As above it indicates we would need to spend over $399 by year end which I did purely to qualify. I have now found use for the assets in some projects but would otherwise not have purchased them at this stage. Frankly this seems like a big con just to get more money out of us.
Thanks Reallusion. Not happy at all.

Yea, definitely not happy. Because Dec 9th Newsletter clearly states iClone 8 and CC4 for over $399+. So appeared to give you a savings of $200 versus the regular upgrade for those without 3dExchange Pipeline. I spent the money intending to get both software. If there was an error a Revised Newsletter should have been sent the same day versus near the end of the deal.

All along, RL has been saying you have to spend $799 or more to get IC8 and CC4 free. That has not changed. Special emails to certain users, have said you get an extra deal if you bought 3DXChange Pipeline and other add-ons. The wording in the email seems to me to be an honest mistake.

Mistakes do happen. It more about how will it be fixed. They emailed Pipeline Users with a "special offer". The original deal to me is more for new users. I would had instead just paid the $600 upgrade later. But that money I was going to use was put into an error made. Shouldn't take 18 days to correct a newsletter error.

My criticism is that 3dxchange cost me more than CC3 and IC7 combined, yet instead of giving 3dxchange users a greater discount on the upgrade, they're offering me a different piece of software that I neither want nor need. Why do I want another plugin? I want the upgrade of what I already have?
As for the increase in price, I feel it's still too much. I invested in CrazyTalk Animator and later iClone because I felt they were reasonably-priced tools for amateurs and hobbyists. Now, however, Reallusion seems to be focusing on an increasingly small percentage of users. I get it. I really do. As a software creator, you'd MUCH rather be told you've made a first-class, top of the line tool for professionals, and see it used in AA or even AAA movies, tv and games, than have a "reasonably-priced tool for amateurs and hobbyists, even if it means hiring more people and ultimately having a much-more expensive product.
However, reallusion needs to realize two things: 1) We hobbyists and amateurs are the ones who bought reallusion products, and made that development possible by being loyal consumers. I've spent around $6500 over the last 10 years. 2) If reallusion keeps going down the slippery slope (fallacy here, but bear with me), do they really want to someday become a top-of-the-line, absolute best software of its kind, used by professional studios to make AAA movies, tv shows and video games ... but only used by the dozen or so people who can afford it? Isn't it just as good, or even better, to be that reasonably-priced tool that inspires people to make projects, to animate, to create?
I honestly can't afford $800 in software just for a hobby I rarely have time for. If reallusion is not willing to consider that we buyers of 3dxchange pipeline paid a LOT of money, a lot more than people who ONLY bought CC3 IC7 alone, and that, in fairness, it would be nice to acknowledge our loyalty in buying reallusion's more expensive products by giving us an extra discount (and NOT simply an additional plugin), then I simply feel I can save my money and not upgrade.
If 3dxchange functionality is now part of IC8 and CC4, why should I, as a person who bought 3dxchange 7 pipeline, pay the SAME upgrade price as someone who only bought CC3 and IC7 standard (thereby paying literally half as much as I did)?
Nah. People can make up their own minds, but I'll pass. I'm a little disillusioned with reallusion right now.

I don't think the prices are that over the top. We seem to be getting discounts and coupons often. Try and buy a really decent video card these days, now that's a ripoff. I recently upgraded to a GTX1650 4g OC $499 and still can't get the results I want. One day, when/if the prices of video cards drop I will buy a much better one.

I agree with some of the points made but regarding the legal aspect, this was not a general offer pit out there by mistake this was a targeted offer to a specific set of users. Even if there is no legal responsibility surely there is a moral one? They would have got an extra $400 out of us that most of us wouldn't otherwise have spent.
I'd of thought with the advancements made by the competition Reallusion would have wanted to retain their customer base. I've already stepped away from IC7 towards UE and this will likely be the final push. I won't be spending any more money with Reallusion, I've spent enough.
Also, based on the way wording is uses so far I now also assume that if we don't spend the full amount in the pre-sales campaign and just pur have IC8 when it comes out then we'll be slapped with costs to upgrade our add-ons? As it says in the pre sales campaign we'll get those free as part of it? Therfore not free if we don't?
Great idea from Reallusion. Just around the time where UE5 and the next iteration of the Metahuman creator come out for free, slap the existing customer base with a huge cost to continue using their software. All the free advertising from the biggest content creators disappears. This could really tank them.

When people bought the Pipeline version of 3DXChange, they paid extra so they could use iClone avatars and such, outside of iClone. That's why you pay extra for Pipeline, because you want to use iClone with other 3D apps. The regular version of 3DXChange works perfect, if you do not need to use third party apps. You knew what you bought the Pipeline version for. You got what you paid for, and now you want to be compensated for it. I spend less $$ on RL products, and I am a nobody in your eyes.

I have not, in any way, said you deserve less than what you are getting. Please relax! Let me try to clarify my position on this, and maybe you'll feel better: Let's use an analogy. Let's imagine Reallusion sold trucks instead of software. Before, the tractor and trailer were sold separately. Many people simply bought the tractor and it was fine for them. Others bought the trailer. With me so far? 1. You bought a tractor. I bought a tractor and trailer, paying twice as much as you did. 2. Reallusion is now selling a truck with a tractor and trailer together, and offering a trade-in price. 3. If you are trading in just the tractor, and I'm trading in the tractor AND trailer, shouldn't I get a better trade-in deal, considering I spent twice as much? Now, IF it were simply a new tractor and no trailer, I wouldn't complain. If Reallusion were offering ONLY IC8 and CC4, and 3dxchange functionality were NOT integrated, I wouldn't honestly expect anything special. However, that's not the case. 3dxchange functionality is now built-in. Why should I not ask for consideration? Maybe I won't get it, but does it hurt to ask?

The next campaign for product upgrades has not yet been announced. I think it's worth waiting a bit. Because, Peter had given information on another issue that there would be a different campaign regarding the upgrade. As for the mail issue, although my native language is not English, I was not surprised by the information about the free upgrade. Because the upgrade rules were already clear on the site and for weeks. Even if the mail was wrong, I knew what the prevailing rule was.You also had the right to return it within 14 days of purchase. I think it's better to stay calm and wait. :)

Most of us bought it because Iclone is not a render engine, although it has rendering capabilities that's not its strength. Additionally there are a whole host of non-standard means of editing that is not built in to iclone such as Marvelous Designer clothing creation/simulation etc. Ultimately that's by the by.
What this is about is something being promised which made many of us happy then having it snatched away. On a more professional note, it's about retaining a loyal customer base that makes up a large community that provide free advertising and engagement that supports on going development.

If I were you I'd be more disappointed by the fact you'll have to pay for features you opted not to purchase separately before but that's just going to be the price you have to pay for the new features. For those of us that did purchase 3DExchange, especially those that may have bought it a short while before the price announcement AND the ambiguous promise of a better price given how much we've already spent its q trucky thing all round and I think Reallusion need to play this carefully or this could alienate a lot of customers that have given them a lot of gain over the years.

If you paid full price for 3DXChange Pipeline, instead of waiting for it to go on sale, that's your decision. If you bought 3DXChange Pipeline on sale, you would not be complaining. I bought 3DXChange regular version last week, for $116.10. As a member, I was offered it for $129, and there was a 10% coupon also. I bought 10,000 DA points, and as a bonus, I got 1000 extra DA points. I used DA points to buy software, I got a $199 program for almost half off. You should buy DA points. Last November, it was RL 20th anniversary, and they were selling IC7 for half off. I bought it last year for $99.50, plus I was able to use a 10% coupon. So I paid less than $90 for IC7. If you pay full price, you wanted it right then and there. Wait for RL products to go on sale before you buy. If I am complaining at you, I am sorry. You should be happy with your purchases from Reallusion. I am happy with mine. That's why you bought them in the first place. I have CHF (congestive heart failure) since 2014. IC7 and CC3 help me pass the time. I have had 2 brothers pass away from CHF, since 2008. I should relax more. Life is too short to second guess yourself on your RL purchases. Enjoy them.

Exclusive means it is not visible to everyone so if you didn't meet the qualifications you wouldn't see it. The main site offer is not exclusive it is for the main stream. So why when someone said an exclusive offer people keep talking about the main site. Exclusive offer means a totally different deal from what was offered. When I logged into my member account in my member announcements the same newsletter was there. So there is a difference. I would be happy if they refund my money and I wait until it's release. Because in all honesty I spent close to $600. I just want CC4 and IC8 the push was they said we would get it earlier. ("Be one of the first.")
I don't care for corporate justification I am old school consumer you say what you mean and mean what you say. You make a mistake you be accountable and fix it asap.

I do not think that the newsletter was sent privately. I assume it is sent to all RL users. It looked more like it was sent to 3DX7 users. Because it was announcing a $99 animation package to be given for free. It was written that in order to get this package for free, you must qualify for at least one of the new programs. I don't know if I misunderstood, but the newsletter sounded like it was about that. The only distinction in the bulletin is that they separate those who qualify for free programs and those who don't. It was more like an announcement or information bulletin.
If you spent $600, you'll qualify for free in both programs when you spend another $200. If your purchases have not exceeded 14 days, you can already apply for a refund. You can send a ticket and ask them to send you a link for the return form.
If you found out after 14 days that the contents of the newsletter were incorrect, I don't know RL's policy on this matter, but it would have been reasonable to extend the return period due to this mistake.
If you already found out 14 days before you spent that the content of the newsletter was wrong, you could always return those items and wait for the normal upgrade time.
If these programs belonged to you, would you buy content for $400 and give both programs for free? I think this doesn't seem very logical. I think it's a good deal for them to give even with $800 spending. Of course, I am speaking for those who need content.
Let's say the upgrade fee is $300 or $400 after this campaign. If I paid this upgrade fee, I would have to purchase the purchased content again in the future. So I'm not saying this campaign is for everyone, but it's been a good deal for a lot of people.
At first, I complained a lot. But the reason I complained was not the product prices, but because the campaign prices ($800) were too high. Because in my country the exchange rate is high and I pay more than you. In hindsight, I thought that for a program that we received free updates for 4 years (I've been using it for 1 year), the company that had a chance to get better financial support only in new versions deserved it.
Of course, these are my views, it's everyone's choice whether to agree or not.
You buy content for $800. Consider that you evaluate it with black friday and extra coupons if any, you buy a product of 1600-2000 dollars for 800 dollars. It comes with 2 new versions of programs and a $99 animation package gift. Do you think it's that bad? Moreover, I bought the programs with version 7 with discounts and coupons. So I never paid full price.

I am here looking for an answer from Reallusion themselves. I found out it was wrong yesterday 18 days after the first email. A person already shared a screenshot of what it said and it says accumulate $399 or more and get iClone 8 and Character Creator 4.
That's why I said if you didn't get the exact email it isn't your place to tell people who got it how to feel. You not walking in our shoes you on the sideline.
I am not always on the forum hence the reason I have them email me announcements and whatever else. I was just seeing if there were someone as confused as me.

You misunderstood me.
The topic about this was already opened on the first day after the newsletter was sent. If you learned this late, I don't know RL's policy on this but you can try your luck by contacting RL ticket support. I don't think they will answer customer's own account specific refund questions here.

Apologies yepkoo. I am just very agitated at the moment. It's just infuriating to only receive dead silence. I have done the other avenues. So again my apologies.
At least they can say 'We are aware of the concerns of the newsletter promotion. The team is reviewing and discussing how we can move forward from here.'
I would respect that if that common decency was given.

I'm definitely not upgrading until I get a real upgrade offer that aligns itself with the rest of the 3D industry. In the meantime maybe the Reallusion marketing department should take some time to cool off as well.

SugarMoxie is not a problem at all, I hope your problem is fixed as soon as possible. As I said, it is useful to submit a ticket and I hope they organize a new campaign after this campaign where everyone can easily upgrade. It's really helpful to just stay calm and wait.
If RL has sent the fix bulletin after 18 days, the ethical thing is to extend the return period. Not everyone is visiting the forum. As I said, I have absolutely no idea what RL's policy is on this issue.
If they don't give a refund, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it maliciously, at least don't forfeit your rights by forcing yourself to $200 more. Because you've already spent $600 and that's a pretty good amount Or at least spend another $100 and you'll qualify for the ic8.Don't forget to apply for Elite Membership when you have $700. This gives you unlimited 40% coupons for the content store throughout 2022.
Merry Christmas everyone...

I personally don't see why people are getting so agitated on behalf of Reallusion. Yes we all think the software is great otherwise we wouldn't be here having this "discussion". As we've said those of us that received the misleading email I shared earlier have been left disappointed to discover we wouldn't be getting what the email suggested. Simple as that. If it was about the year end deal the point is simple take it or leave it. I spent $400 weeks ago to get the offer I thought I'd received. Made the best of it and started working on projects specifically around those assets so even if Reallusion said I could refund them I'd be tanking several projects I've already spent a lot of time on so basically I've already spent a big chunk of the money I'd of paid for both applications. In short I've been left in a less than ideal position because of a misleading offer email. Because of that I'd now rather stick with what I have and invest more in mocap. I'll just use ic7 for cleanup and Reallusion won't be getting any more money out of me.

My point is that this is a good deal for those who just need the content. Otherwise, I'm not advocating anything. Defending means insisting that my view is correct. However, these are just my opinions and I have no intention of convincing anyone that my ideas are correct. Like everyone else, I share my thoughts without offending anyone. After all, this is a forum site and people can have an opinion about what is right and wrong by discussing it. I'm just trying to think logically. You spent $400 and learned you had to spend another $400. Yes, a disappointment in a way. However, whether you need this content or not is also important. If you spend +400 dollars more to buy content, you will have spent more money, but you are not giving this money for free. In return, you buy extra content so that you can use it in your different projects. Let's say you upgrade the programs with a direct upgrade fee, and you need content in 2022 and consider purchasing $400 of content. You will have given the same amount of money again, but since you pay a separate upgrade fee for the programs, you will actually have more money out of your pocket. While I am writing here, I am not targeting anyone, I am generally trying to gather what is written on the subject and interpret it according to myself. Of course, someone's ideas may not match someone else's ideas and comments, but anyway, I realized that I should not write any more comments.

You're missing the point from my perspective. For people who need content and have the money right now to buy it then great go for it. I neither had $900 to spend nor would I have been able to find that amount I needed. So when my offer came through I was appreciative of it and scrambled to find $400 worth of content then came up with projects to use it in. Then I find out the offer was bogus. Not sure how much clearer I can articulate the cause of my issue.
So now I'm left in a no win situation from my point of view. At best I'll end up with a copy of CC4 on its own which I probably won't even bother using because no doubt the Metahuman creator will have a new iteration out some time around then.

I understand you. If I were the CEO of Reallusion, I would limit receiving content to all customers I send this misunderstood newsletter to a maximum of $600. However, the most logical thing to do in this case is to return the products you have purchased if you have not added too much to your projects. Or just wait for a good campaign and coupon time for iC8 after the programs are released. There really doesn't seem to be many options in this case.
Current earnings CC4 + Purchased content + $ 99 animation package. In fact, it cannot be said that you are harmed. You will only have to pay a separate fee in the future for the iC8. Your only loss is that you will not receive content instead of the upgrade fee you will pay for iC8 in the future.
Let me specifically point this out.I understand the disappointment experienced.Just because the content of the bulletin became clear, I conveyed my views on what can be done next.

Hello, I have a dumb question here. Can anyone tell me if live link for Unreal will work going forward? (I mean with IC8 and Unreal 5) Or will I be faced with a pricey upgrade later? I ask because I am thinking of spending the $900 and qualifying for the free upgrades... but will it work afterwards?

Unreal Livelink is free for individual users. Why not as the plugins will be upgraded? However, I don't know if they will release the plugin until UE5 goes to stable version.

Peter (RL) (12/16/2021)
Xodroc (12/16/2021) Looked through e-mails again and spotted the deal for 3DXchange 7 Pipeline users. It is a reasonable deal indeed, though it's not mentioned or reflected on the page that shows you what you've qualified for, so a bit confusing.
Did I miss this one? I looked at my past emails and could not find an email for the Motion Director Theme Pack. I own 3DXchange 7 Pipeline and spent enough to qualify for the free upgrades and the elite membership. What is in the Motion Director Theme Pack?

I don't remember exactly, but it was a valid campaign for those who had the 3DXchange program before a certain date. It may not apply if you purchased these programs to qualify for the upgrade. If you qualify for free, you should have received an email about it. Or you can go to your membership page and look at the information messages at the top. "Motion Director Athletic Run pack" was given for free.
