I'm a little surprised it's not possible. I did a bit of research and found out it used to be possible, but through Flash. Can we get a new importing option so we can import our vector characters from Inkscape/Affinity Designer?

Short answer: no.
Reallusion keeps sending indirect messages that they have ruled out SVG support.
