When coming back to CC3 after the clothing is designed, even in the same pose...  It is not lining up and with gloves, it is really hard to get them in the right place with tight tolerances.  Can someone let me know if they were successful in importing their clothing without repositioning and what was the procedure.

I don't know when they are going to fix it... but it is what it is. It never matches.
Your best bet is to use iClone for Avatar export (FBX or Alembic) to MD and importing garments as OBJ back to iClone.
Then attach OBJ imported cloth to avatar in iClone, send to CC and transfer weights.
Make sure current character pose is CC is the same as in iClone before sending it to CC.

So, if you export the avatar from iClone to MD and back again, there are not issues with placement?  It's just CC3 that introduces the issue?

Exactly. This video I made is kind of outdated and more about simulation import before alembic import was introduced to iClone, but eventually shows my point: https://youtu.be/c5OoAfxuKNw

Try this.

Import your cloth using accessory in the create menu.
It will come in slightly offset because accessories are imported attached the pelvis.
Scroll down in the modify panel to the attach section.
Click on the ellipsis.

In the panel that opens, you can change the attach settings for the cloth.
Click on the top-most line "RL_Boneroot".
Click on the "Position And Rotation".
The root of the cloth will then be aligned to the root of the character, a perfect match. Smile

That worked perfectly.  Seems like this needs to be patched into CC3.  Connecting the Accessory to the right bone or letting the user choose upon import.  Just importing in the incorrect placement caused a lot of confusion and frustration.  Is there any reason why the Devs would have it import this way or was it a mistake on their end?  Can we get this patched in future version of CC?

It can be a little confusing, and could probably be improved. Six of one, half-a-dozen of the other, I suppose. If you imported a gun with it's root at the stock, you might prefer it be at the hip instead of the feet.
