I have not actually seen the move tool arrows or rotate gadget on my screen in months. I can press W all day. Nothing. Press E all day. No rotate gadget. I have to use the mouse, which I confess, I'm not getting used to going back and forth between programs. Did I miss something? Was the visible tool retired?

Open the Preferences panel, menu Edit > Preference or Ctrl+P and make sure that there is a check beside Transform Gizmo in the Control section:

Thank you!!!! When I pressed "w", the colord 3-dimentional indicator would not come on. The directions you gave resolved my issue.
