Dirty maps

I used to be able to export just about any object or architecture from DAZ and it worked fine in Iclone. Now, everything looks dirty. Here's an example of a Gazebo and a dirty corridor. I've tried all sorts of settings and I can't make this clean like it used to be. Sure, I can use shaders, but shaders overwrite maps.  As you can see with the image of the android looking down on the bed, I had no problem doing this last year, but the only way (I think) I can use that set again is to copy it from the old project file into the custom contents. But that doesn't help me with new items. What happened?

As you can see, I can use a shader, but that wipes out the map on the floor.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/84e37caa-14fb-45c9-94dc-f8b7.png

Can you tell me specifically which items those are (a link to the Daz store would be ideal, but even just the exact name)?

Honestly, it's any product at all now. And it doesn't matter whether I import the object through 3DXchange or Iclone. Characters are fine. Beautiful. But Objects aren't.
The corridor was Generic Scifi Corridor  https://www.daz3d.com/generic-sci-fi-corridor

There are WAY too many Sci-Fi corridors (even those by Stonemason) for me to identify it.  Can you give me another, more specific Daz item?

I'm having no issues at all but I'm also using my Python script to correctly bring in all the textures.  If you give me an item you can't get I can test it out on that (I'll keep looking for the corridor but the only one I can find from Stonemason in my collection is from 2013 and is NOT the one you linked to).

I gave a link to the actual item. https://www.daz3d.com/generic-sci-fi-corridor

But again, it's any scene that I export from Daz as a wavefront .obj file. That's absolutely anything now.

Okay, well that's your first problem.  Export as an FBX (the preferred format) and drag and drop into iClone.  It will bring it in with the diffuse maps correctly.  Then apply my script to get all the other maps (and that link you supplied is VERY odd -- the "corridor" is a Poser file (PP2), not a Daz file, which is why I don't have it.  But if you have a link to any Daz file I'll be glad to try it out for you).

Something has changed in DAZ. Either Daz or my settings. I just imported this chair, which I saved from Daz as a wavefront object file in 2018. It loads right into Iclone perfectly. Every object in that folder imports perfectly as an object.

But FBX does solve the problem going forward. But OBJ files did work a few years ago. I would export characters as FBX and use all sorts of object files for my props. Fortunately, I have directories from 2018 with many objects in them, but I'll save my new stuff with FBX.

I'll miss the usability of OBJs because Iclone will note any large number of meshes and offer to make them into subprops. It doesn't do that with FBX, and it's a pain in 3DXchange.

Thanks for your suggestion. That saves me a headache this weekend.

Actually, often iClone *will* note subobjects and offer to break them up from FBX files.  It has more to do with the actual set in Daz (which is to say, how they are parented and such).  You can get that effect in Daz by unparenting objects and/or changing Daz characters into props.  If you have any particular item you'd like help with again, just let me know and I can show you how to do it.

To me it looks like a problem of iClone's view quality mode configuration (High, Medium, Qyick mode, custom...) What mode it is currently? You can check in Preferences menu, Quality section, maybe you changed there some parameters for the current mode you're using.

Just FYI why you have a dirty look importing OBJ.

It is a normal/bump and OBJ dilemma. Bump maps from OBJ are *always* loaded as normal type maps and never as bump by either iClone and 3DX.
When you load bump maps manually you get prompted with normal/bump selection.
But here you do not. It always normal regardless. And loading B/W bump map as more advanced normal map produces an ugly material effect.
Depending on bump texture it sometimes may, but most of the time may not be tolerated. There is no solution other than reloading bump maps manually and selecting a bump type.

Here is a quick demonstration:

I wish though RL would prompt us to select bump maps type when loading a set/prop from OBJ (sets/props usually have one type of bump maps for all materials which is easy to identify).

We got it solved going forward. It's not the view mode. Quick mode doesn't affect the final render.

Thanks so much for this. I tried it and it worked. I checked my files from 2018, which all work automatically. They have no maps folder. Just a .MTL file. When I launch the bump file, it's in an Iclone 7 temp folder. In any case, mystery solved.

To complete the subject. There is even easier way to reload maps (without launching).
Right mouse click on the map > Copy
Right mouse click on the same map  > Paste
If it's bump map, prompt would popup to select map type.
