Hi everyone I'm using FBX export with the InstaLOD default setting, keeping the original avatar as LOD0 and making LOD1 and LOD2 from InstaLOD. The skin and clothes output fine but the hair is a total disaster - see the attached image. It's nothing to do with the import into Unity - these errors are baked into the textures.
This is latest CC 3.4.
Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or having the same issues?

Hi bennett_027069 This problem is caused by opacity. LOD can't handle the mesh have opacity, so here is the workaround. Use edit mesh function in CC to hide the mesh which have opacity texture. ex. Scalp , Brows base. After do that workaround this issue should be solve.

So, I followed this step, which helps with the fringes, but the look of these models is still pretty disastrous compared to what's in the docs. Basically everything about this is fine for distant LODs except the hair which is nothing like the original. I'd appreciate any tips.

Having done more experiments, this isn't limited to a Unity thing. The instaLOD is getting the wrong color for the prime hairstyles.

Same issue here. Merged material isn't working fine with new Hair/Brows/Beard, just noticed that I didn't test before

Sounds like an extension of this issue I reported in March, although my example was focused on just the brows at the time. In May you'll see there is a comment about the causes being to do with how InstaLOD was making the textures: Smart hair merged materials builds wrong diffuse map - FeedBack Tracker (reallusion.com)

Has anyone found a solution for this?

I gave up on InstaLOD and just create LODs in Unreal.

Oh actually I found a solution. Hide the scalp layer of hair and everything seems to render way better.
