the same problem for me, I've followed everything on tutorials but the same error : failed to align a text
I've reported it as a bug, go here and vote
https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/Acculips-error-failed-to-align-a-text
Edit :
Fixed (for my part)
The problem was from my soundcard. On Iclone I've selected my external sound card to record the audio. But at my system, the default input soundcard was the build one with the motherboard. I changed the setting to have THE SAME SOUNDCARD and everything work fine now.

I am getting "Failed to align text" no matter what I do. Even TTS fails to align text with AccuLips. I have tried all the options, and they all fail to align text, even if I go word by word with partial alignments. What could be causing this?

As a rule the failure to align is because of the audio file. First make sure you are using a plain vanilla audio file, something produced out of a program like Audacity or at least a major player, using a standard codec. Here's one you can use to test:
And here is the text to copy and paste: How dare you open a space mans' helmet on an uncharted planet. My eyeballs could have been sucked from their sockets
Now, this should work for you just fine. If it does, then you know it's something wrong with your audio and you need to work on that (I would advise using MP3 as it's a much safer and more reliable codec than .WAV which can be in a ton of different forms in that container). If this does NOT work for you then it's something with your system.

Why not just use the built in TTS from iClone 7 with the Microsoft voices, if you want to test it out. I used it, and everything works fine.

I have just tried with the string provided above on AccuLips, by clicking the TTS button and choosing Microsoft David, and it still claims it cannot align the text. For the record, I can create scripts with audio files and TTS using all the other methods - just not AccuLips. If there were something wrong with my system, how come the other methods work using the same TTS, WAV and TXT files?
There was another person above claiming they solved this by configuring the audio card in Windows and iClone. How do we configure that in iClone?

You tried using the AUDIO I provided?
It's always the audio that's the issue. TTS may or may not work, but you need to start with clean audio. Record yourself saying a line, export it as MP3, and it should work just fine. Creating audio in ANY other format or using some kind of artificial audio creating program may not work.
If someone has an audio file they've created (again, by THEMSELVES, not using any artificial voice) that isn't working, post it here and we'll look at it.

Yes, I have tried your audio and text. Still cannot align. It always fails. TTS is working, and I can use it in iClone to create a script and generate lip sync - just not with AccuLips. I have created my own audio, but if AccuLips fails with simple text and self-generated TTS, nothing is going to make it work here.
What could be wrong? What else can I try?

If it fails with the audio and text I supplied then you most likely need to reinstall iClone -- remove it completely (using the Windows add/remove) and reinstall using the hub. Because something is dinged up.
(Although part of me would REALLY like to see a video of the failure -- I mean, I take you at your word, but for this to work perfectly for me and not for you suggests something VERY odd. Let's hope a reinstall fixes it all).

I was recently having another issue with iClone (and CC3) where the PostGre SQL server was not launching, and Smart Gallery would fail in both programs. I was asked to reinstall iClone completely, which I did, but it didn't solve anything. RL has guided me to manually delete folders and registry entries, and then reboot and reinstall from scratch, including plugins. CMS still has to be launched manually in the Windows shell every time, sometimes multiple attempts until it starts, but even then it still stops working again eventually. I was asked to reset the database, and now both programs think all my installed contents are not installed, and I had to spend days reinstalling contents that were already installed since the days of IC5. The problem still persists, and RL said they are trying to figure it out.
Therefore I believe this is, for all means and purposes, a brand new installation. It didn't solve the SQL server not launching, and now AccuLips has this issue, but at least it had never worked for me, so it's not something new that started now. I am discarding the possibility of issues with the sound card, TTS, or audio files, since they work with iClone. In other words, I can create talking characters with my own recorded voice or TTS - just not with AccuLips.
The person who opened this thread claims it was caused by a conflict on the sound card configuration between Windows and iClone, but again, if that were the case, I wouldn't be able to get lip sync in iClone with regular scripts, but I can. So I am discarding that, too. Must be something else.

Ken, do you have a second system you could install iClone on? (You are allowed two installs with one license.)
The reason I mention this is that on one system I have major problems with accessing the new hair content from Content Manager, whereas on my secondary iClone system it works fine. Which tells me that systems are indeed different, the trick is to find out why.

Thank you for the suggestion. I do have an old laptop, but I can't do any work there because it's too slow, and the disk and screen are too small. So if iClone would work there, it wouldn't really help. I need things to work on my main PC, which was built for 3D.
I need to figure out both these things:
1. Why does PostGre SQL Server keep stopping. This prevents Smart Gallery from functioning. I have disabled both AV and firewall, and it still stops, so it must be something else. I can start the server manually, but it keeps stopping again after some time. If it's not the AV or the firewall, what else could be stopping it?
2. Why AccuLips won't align text with speech. I can use both voice recording and TTS to create lip sync scripts in iClone, just not with AccuLips. If it can't align text from TTS, it's not something I am doing, because it has created the audio itself. I can hear the TTS audio, and it sounds OK to me, but it can't align it with the text used to generate the TTS audio. It's not the sound card because I can hear the recorded voice, and I can create lip sync without AccuLip using it. It's not the audio file, because iClone has created it by itself with TTS. If it fails to align text with TTS, it's no surprise when it also fails with recorded voice. If it doesn't work with TTS, it won't work with anything else. I have tried everything, so I will need help with this.

ken_1171 (3/28/2021) I have tried everything, so I will need help with this.
Please feel free to contact Technical Support if you have issues you can't resolve yourself. Please try to provide your system information (dxdiag.txt and if possible try to include a video capture showing the steps you are taking leading up to the problem occurring. Thanks.

Although this issue was affecting AccuLips from the very beginning, I believe its inability to align text with speech was caused by a recent Windows 10 update that has also been crippling performance in Poser. I have installed the latest cumulative patch from Windows 10 update KB5000842, and the issue is now gone. Now I can finally align text in AccuLips using either TTS or my recorded voice. In the end, this issue had nothing to do with iClone, or my audio card. It was yet another Windows 10 update that breaks things. Hope this helps other people having the same issue.
