Hi all,
I am trying to 3D Print some of my 3D Models with my 3D Printer.
So if I am trying to export a figure as an OBJ, my Tool can import this type only.
What I am getting is this :
Who can help to get it into a "normal" shape?

I guess you are talking about the lack of smoothing? My understanding is that that is something done as part of rendering and not part of the actual geometry.
You could try smoothing by subdivision rather than tessellation. Or perhaps the 3D printing software has a smoothing feature built in.

Why don't you smooth it with 3DXChange after export?

So, I did play with this a bit with the following workflow :
a) set it to tesselation in cc3 (no improvement) b) set it to smooth for Iray (no improvement) c) got it to iclone and then set to smooth (yes the mesh count went from 30.000 to 150.000 then said : bring to 3dxchange ==> fell back to 30.000 meshes in 3d xchange.
Actually, I think it did work in an older version of Iclone.
So any help appreciated.
Thanks
Steffen

Unfortunately IC nor CC don't let us export the SubD (I also would need it). Only workaround is to load it into a 3rd party app like Blender , Maya or whatever and smooth subdivide it.
Please RL , let us export the Subdivided Mesh , would make a lot of things easier ! :)

Ah, that is good to know, I have been trying so hard to get this done :-)
I remember that it Did work, when I was using it 2-3 years ago.
I am not sure, if I remember correctly.
@ Bassline 303 - you seem to know this feature, can you put it on the request new feature list?
Thanks
Steffen
