COMPUTER UPGRADE

So, I'm wondering if It's time for an upgrade. I have an  i7 - 7700 CPU 3.6 GHZ 3.6 GHZ 16 RAM  NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1070 Ti 8GB RAM
Even though I have 8 GB ram on my graphics card, after only using up 2 GB in Iclone 7, my on screen animation seems to be moving choppy.  I'm not sure what kind of upgrade i would need so that I can have smoother viewing animations while I'm working on them in real time.  I don't want to do work arounds (turn down the poly counts or go into quick mode).
     I saw this desktop i9 and am wondering if that would make any impactful difference?  or maybe upgrading the graphic card to 2080 Ti, Does more Ram on the Graphics card mean the workflow will be smoother?  Like I said, my Graphics card has 8 GB of ram, and it says i'm only using 2 GB but the scenes aren't smooth.  I don't want to go into overkill mode if I don't have to.  I just need to know What exactly controls how many animated characters I can work with on the scene and still have them moving smoothly when playing them back on the timeline.  Thx for any help on this matter

I would use a tool like GPU-Z to get a more accurate idea of your VRAM (GPU RAM) usage. The number that iClone gives is not always accurate.

I have found, for example, that if I use Photo Shop besides iClone, additional VRAM is being used. Likewise with Character Creator.

VRAM is the most important factor because textures are getting larger and larger. The 2000 series doesn't have specific advantages for iClone as it RTX is not being used. It is unfortunate that the 3000 series is hard to get because of the larger VRAM amount on the top models.

I currently have a 1080Ti with 11GB VRAM and I also run into limitations, so I would like to upgrade.

What I have been doing is optimizing texture size use. There is no need for everything to be 4k. When exporting a character from CC, I use 2k for the face and important parts with fine details and 1k for less important parts.

Another thing to look at is how much free space there is on your system drive (C: usually). iClone writes temporary files for crash recovery and the drive is also used for virtual memory. Sufficient virtual memory helps system stability.

You said the RTX isn't being used.  Are you talking about the ray tracing or the Vram altogether?

Actually, I was partially incorrect, the Iray renderer of iClone now supports RTX, but the native renderer doesn't. The VRAM is used; the amount depends on the scene.

Hello there. I have that same problem. Ialso have 8700kprocessor 16 gb ram and 1060 gtx. Even though there are notextures in the sceneI am working on, if I have lots of props, iclone starts running slow. so I'mthinking of buying 3090 I think it will solve my problem. . when I check theramcapacity when Iı start to slow down while I work, I see that I do not useeven 1 GB.When iclone start to slow down, even the CPU is not working at fullcapacity. My guess isthat the more cores of the gpu, will be more useful.
