Hi, I'm super new to CC and use 3ds max as my main 3d software. My question is, when I export the character fbx and import it to 3ds max, is there a way for the model and bones to be converted into a Cat or animation rig?
Thanks, N

You have probably more luck asking this on a 3DMax forum.

CC characters are rigged and ready for animation. To convert them into something else is a bit beyond what most users do here. In fact, I see very little mentioning of 3DMax.

EDIT: See Rampa's video below.

You would need to basically just weight the CC3 mesh to your CAT rig. See 2:54 in this video.

Thank you. From looking into the software from Reallusion, I would need 3DExchange to have more options to export to other 3d software.

If you are only using CC3 characters, CC3 Pipeline is sufficient. It exports FBX. If you need to import your own custom models and retarget them, then re-export them, you would need 3DXchange Pipeline.

I am not savvy on creating a rig for a cat or any animals. But I found a free cat from Free 3d created by printable_models. Blender has something called Rigify for 4 legged animals to rig a cat.
The cat is OBJ file. I have used a free online mesh converter called Anycov.com to convert OBJ files to FBX and it works about 80-90% of the time.
As I said, I am not savvy on rigging any animals. Printable_models has a lot of free animals to download from Free3D.com. I have converted some for props in iClone 6 and 7.
The links are below. Maybe you can rig a cat or other animals and also convert from OBJ to FBX from these links.
