Reference images and base character

As you can see from the references, I am using components from different cultures, but my goal is to make them unique to this character and to unify everything with an astronomy theme. 

I also created a base character for this project. There is nothing fancy yet, but I can now move forward and start crafting the main components for this character. There will be four main components (dress, hair, tattoos, and jewelry). I will start with the dress and hair. Then I will have a better idea of how tattoos and jewelry should look like and where exactly everything should be.

Dress
The dress is finished, and here is the result. Although I'm still not sure about the colors, so I might change them later when I make more progress with the project.

Probably the most difficult part of this whole dress operation was coming up with a cool pattern design. I tried many different ideas and finally decided to create a map-like pattern which represents the world around the astronomer. It starts with a ground layer, then a river, houses, stars in the sky, moon, and sun.

Tattoos
So I successfully finished tattoos and accessories in time and completed the whole project. I just didn't have enough time these last few days to post progress updates. So, for the sake of keeping updates in chronological order, here are the tattoos.

For tattoos, I could use SkinGen, but since I wanted them to be across multiple textures, I decided to use a new substance painter workflow. So I created a couple of simple alphas and stamped them all over the mesh. It was really simple yet fun :)
