Just a quick question as to what the base character guidelines are. Is one able to use anything at their disposal for instance the 4-1 skin gen pack with the bonus humans, or my own character morphs or tokomotion character morphs for example and all the character creator sliders someone may have accumulated over the years?.
Or do we have to just use default morphs etc along with ZBrush.
If we are allowed to use purchased content. Will scoring take into account someone who has possibly made something from scratch with just default sliders and ZBrush opposed to someone using readily available morphs etc.
It says in the post. Must use CC character as base to create your own character.
If anything goes, that should be stated. Also if there are things we can't use. That should also be stated.
Also.. It says we are allowed up to 3 entries. Is this 1 entry in each category. Or just 3 entries total and I can submit 3 in 1 category.

My question concerns the Artstation WIP. In order to maintain a WIP on Artstation, do we submit new art and update the existing entry as we progress? If so, how should we title the entry so that Reallusion can find it?
Thank you.

Hi, I have some questions..
I want to join this contest, is it ok if i use a very early WIP concept that I develop originally for another contest? You can check out the post here (https://polycount.com/discussion/221175/ggac-contest-wip-female-character-codename-july).
It's my original concept that I haven't worked on for a month or two now, but I would like to continue with this concept for this contest, is it alright?
If it's ok, I have another question... I think my character is half realistic and half stylized.. maybe a bit more stylized.. so please tell me, this is considered stylized right?

Hello, it's great to see you here!! Please find our comments below.
Slayerazazel (9/2/2020) Just a quick question as to what the base character guidelines are. If anything goes, that should be stated. Also if there are things we can't use. That should also be stated. Entrants are allowed to use the content purchased from Reallusion Content Store or Marketplace. Content is one of the best benefits for Character Creator users! However, if you look into the Judges' Criteria, you will find that original character and peripheral designs take larger weights if you are competing in the "Realistic Character" and "Stylized Character" categories. https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/event/2020-cc-digital-human-contest/rules.html
It says we are allowed up to 3 entries. Is this 1 entry in each category. Or just 3 entries total and I can submit 3 in 1 category.
The latter. Totally 3 entries. Any category is fine.
Hope this answers!

Hi Peter!
It depends on you. You may keep updating one artwork, or create several posts like "part 1, part 2, ..., final". I would suggest making good use of ArtStation Blog to share more details of the process. :) Yes, please name the title as CC Digital Human Contest, so it will be helpful for us to find during the WIP!
Mythcons (9/2/2020) My question concerns the Artstation WIP. In order to maintain a WIP on Artstation, do we submit new art and update the existing entry as we progress? If so, how should we title the entry so that Reallusion can find it?

Hi miicaneo,
It doesn't matter about the new design or not. The original character isn't built up with Character Creator, right? We'd love to see the CC version of this character. :) And yes, it's more stylized-like.

Miranda. Just one note i came across also
When searching for CC Digital Human Contest 2020 i can only find portfolios. The blogs don't show. Even though my blog has CC digital Human Contest 2020 in it, and i have added the tag also. Either I'm searching wrong. Or the tag isn't working as intended for searching for blogs.

Hi everyone,
It's indeed that ArtStation doesn't provide the search function specifically for Blog. We will double check with ArtStation later. What I do for Blog is utilizing google.

For Portfolio (or Artwork), there are two ways to search. One is "Software+keyword", another is "Tag"

|
|
By Slayerazazel - 5 Years Ago
|
|
Well, hopefully, artstation will introduce the search feature for the blogs. Because I have the tags in my blog, but even with a google search I can't find it. I have set a portfolio with a link to my blog. I started with the portfolio, but the features of the blog are just much better laid out.

If I create any more detailed entries I will update the collection - seems the easiest / cleanest way to consolidate several posts / entries.

Hey there!
I was wondering if it is allowed to modify the skeletal structure for the contest, such as changing the facial bone structure to add extra parts (eg appendages or extra eyes) - using the CC3+ character model as the starting point - or are we not allowed to modify the skeletal structure in the contest?

Hello! Yes, you can use CC as the prototype. However, if the skeletal structure is changed, you won't be able to bring it back to CC for further editing, let alone animating the character in iClone. However, if animating this character in other 3D tools is your original plan, that will be fine.

Hello Before I start creating, I have one question There is written ''Original character designs are preferred'' character should be original, (movie character, real person, Actor, Singer etc, ...) or I can create any Hello KSTART,
The original designs here means the character and peripherals are created by you with the help of sculpting or texturing tools. Utilizing content assets from Reallusion store or third party stores is allowed, however, you might not get high score if those assets are not further tweaked.
There is no limitation on the subject of the character, it can be real person, or purely from your imagination. :)

Hello there my name is Michael, I bought a couples of days ago the Ultimate Digital Human Creation with Head Shoot and I didn't even know there was a contest by using CC3 xD, So I decided to participate in the contest I read the rules, paying a lot of attention to its details and I just have 3 concern/question regarding to it please could you answer me?
• My first concern/question is: I want to participate for the stylized character creation and in the rules states that original character designs are preferred, So that's means that if I use a concept art of another artist I will be disqualified? even if give the credit to the concept art to the original artist? meaning that I cannot use any existing concept art at all? Because I have a few examples of characters that I really love and I wanted to make that's why I bought the Ultimate Bundle in the first place without knowing that this contests was going on xD. I will be doing all the 3D work, modeling(using CC3 as base mesh), texturing, lighting and rendering.
• My second question is: For the final renders/turntable it has to be only the character? because I've never liked to showcased just standing or T-Posing characters is boring to me, I want to make it doing it some sort action pose with all the accessories, scene objects, particles, etc. All encapsulated in the diorama I will be modeling. I want to make my characters functional with Rig and such that's why I bought CC3.
• My last question is: For the turn table can I use another software? Or it must to be only iClone?
Thank you in advance for the replay.
Cheers!

The original designs means that this character is not from existing 3D character models (e.g. CC embedded characters, Daz characters, etc.), but being adjusted by using sculpting tools or morph sliders. There is no limitation on character appearance.
We found that this word really confused entrants, so we will remove it from the webpage later. Thank you!
You can create an short animation video besides turntable. :)

My question is , do you really need to be that detail, it takes so much time doing walkthroughs , time you could be spending on the actual artwork. I feel broad strokes should be sufficient.

Well, I would like to keep it as detailed as possible. I'll make it fit in one blog post if I can. If not, I'll just do multiple I guess. I'm trying to configure my main artstation page, but it's only showing my portfolios, not my blog.
I'll Make it work.

Excuse me I am currently making the turntable of my submission and I want to use only the character creator logo without the "Digital Human Contest 2020" part of the sample image at the beginning of the video, because looks cool :), Can I do that? and then at the end of the video the full Contest logo?
|
|
By Slayerazazel - 5 Years Ago

There are only 3 things that you must do with the video according to the rules on the page. So as long as you do those 3 and have a turntable, I'm pretty sure you can present your creation any way you want. But that's just my observation and interpretation of the rules.

Quick question on the "Animated Character" contest rules. Do you have to make your own animation? I would like to show how disruptive this program is by taking a concept to game-ready, and then implementing it into UE4 in 2 months. My question is, will having a character running around, attacking enemies, and just exploring the world net the same amount of points as a custom animation?

Hello bradyrigg,
We don't limit the form of animation. According to the judges' criteria, the animation video shall be able to present character's personality. Not only the character animation (expression, body motion), but also the atmosphere you create specifically for this character.

Hello. I'm 1 month into making my character. According to the rules I have to use the CC Character as a base for my design, which is exactly what I did. But my question is, do I have to finish the character in Character Creator (i.e. import the clothing, hair, peripherals, etc, into CC), and then pose and render the images from there? Or can I finish off the character and render the images and video within my own tools (3ds Max + Vray)?
Also, do I have to use the provided template for the turntable? Or can I make my own turntable setup?

Note: Presenting how you best use of CC and other 3D tools with good quality will get higher score. Rendering only accounts for 10 percent in the Realistic Character and Stylized Character category.
Also, do I have to use the provided template for the turntable? Or can I make my own turntable setup? You can create your own inside or outside of iClone.
Hope it's clear!

We will announce the results on Dec. 3rd. :)
