I don't saw it mentioned on the forum, so in case somebody likes to "3D fly", Google Earth Studio could be a good companion in creating background imagery.
Below are two of (obviously) my old clips as examples of this "3d flying": first one is a few seconds tests of an X-Wing over Oslo, Norway, but the other is some "full featured" 5-mins video of a flight over Nagoya, Japan. Both were made at 60 fps using HitFilm Pro.

If you're familiar with iClone, then you will easily handle the GES, basically it operates with paths, points and parameters (angle, zoom, velocity) alongside with keyframes, bezier curves and handles, and also, like iClone, it's timeline is in frames, not in timestamp. It doesn't render as movie, but as image sequence; images are rendered on Google servers then only downloaded on your machine, so your computer will be spared of heavy CPU usage. Since only Google Chrome is supported as browser, you may take advantage of its Native File System support to download each image on your harddrive, rather than a several gigabytes zip file containing all.

Looks interesting, btw, you have to try the new Microsoft Flight Simulator.
I can see myself using some backdrops from there.
