How to decrease texture size?

Hello to everybody!

In my current project I have made the mistake of using textures from Quixel Megascans and Poliigon on my terrain. These are really big (usually 8K or more) and they increase the size of my project too much! Each map (diffuse, normal etc) increases the project size by 50-100 mb.

They look very cool but I am worried that, when I start animating and applying soft cloth etc, the project will become too big to handle and it will lag as hell.

So I was wondering, is there any effective way to reduce the size of these textures? But keeping them seamless at the same time?

Thanks!!

I created a new photoshop project with 2k pixel size, and I scaled down the textures to fit that project.

The level of detail appears unchanged, with the exception of extreme close ups on the ground. There I can see the difference. But for these specific shots I can always use the 8K maps.

I am leaving this here for anyone who might wonder about it in the future :)

See this thread where member "4u2ges" recommends "FastStone Image Viewer".
I downloaded it after seeing this and it's really handy and fast to "batch" texture decreasing...

Yes that is perfect. Sure beats doing it manually for every map!

Thank you!!
