Open your sytem browser and locate the folder where the popVdeo is located. Keep it open.
Now open iClone...and to play it safe, use a Blank Project the 1st Time, then you can add it to an existing one after you see if it works.

With iClone and your system folder visible, Right Click on the popVideo and (without letting go of the Right Mouse Button) drag the popVideo to the Project View Screen area. You will get options for the popVideo...2D Background, Plane, Billboard, or Image Layer. Sounds like in this case you may want to use Plane as the option so you can move, size, and place it.

See if selecting the Props TAB 1st, before trying to drag the popvideo in, resolves your problem.

2nd Issue may be you don't have installed the Video Drivers recommended by Reallusion. The K-Lite Video CODEC pack

I don't know how to put this any other way, but this is stupid. :pinch:

Not you, Cricky, but the solution.

Surely there must be just one codec or tool in that big package which is required by popVideo. Someone spill the beans already and tell us which one it is and where we can get it!

And at the risk of overloading this thread with a separate but intimately-related issue, iWidget doesn't work worth a damn for me. It's not recognized as a playable file by anything--including Adobe AIR.

Well I've followed the youtube video demo and read this forum but i cannot drag my popvideo converted file onto the screen, either right or left mouse button, with or without contrl key down and on project or prop selected. Driving me nuts. How the hell does this work?

I've dowloaded the codec pack which appears to be yet another application. This is not helpful. I just want to drage my file from the explorer box onto the iclone screen as shown in the demo. How the hell do you do this?

Try this - go to props - 3D space, and select "plane". On the right side of the screen, go down to the materials section and double click the "diffuse" box. Find your video file from there and load it into that channel. You may have to load the mask into the "opacity" box, too (I can't remember how the POP videos work with that. Your video will be on a huge box on the floor, but you can resize it and rotate it up to vertical.

If this works, it's not a codec problem, so you just need to work to figure out the interface to do the click-and-drag. If it doesn't work, it's either a codec or a video card problem that won't let you play your videos.

Here is a Video of the process..No Audio used, just a quick show that it is possible. There are two examples of a popvideo being dragged in directly using the RMB (Right Mouse Button) and one being dragged in from the iClone Video Folder inside the iClone4 default Video directory.

Placement and style of prop used, whether it be Plane, Billboard, Image Layer, or 2d Background is the same process. If you drag something into the scene directly without choice of object, then it will usually align itself as the background layer unless dragged directly to a prop (Billboard, Plane). You can still use the RMB from the iClone List of Videos in the program, just as you would using your system folders when the video (popVideo or otherwise) is stored external to the iClone default directories.

Don't let go of the mouse button until the popvideo is showing as a PLUS+ sign to the scene if you want choices as to what it will be applied as. If you want it to be the diffuse for a specific item, pick it (Item) in the scene manager and then drag (LMB) directly to the item and it will be applied as a diffuse texture.

Just remember that popvideos that use Alpha Channel will automatically apply that channel as Opacity to whatever they are dragged to. So if you have a nice clean image with background removed, then it will apply just that.

Have you tried dragging other media into iClone? For example are you able to drag avi, wmv, jpg, png etc? This is worth trying if you haven't already.

Also are you able to open the file with the .popVideo extension in popVideo Converter itself without any problems. This will eliminate a faulty file.
