I love CA4 (and all the previous versions). I am not that good at it, but I use them a lot in my elearning modules. The quick GIF creation is so awesome, I use it all the time. In powerpoint it is great. But, I am trying to use Articulate Storyline to make modules now, because I can add in software simulations and other things. Sadly, all the characters I have created in CA4 that I use to host my elearnings are having issues in Storyline360. When I paste them in, they no longer appear transparent and they do not play. I started a thread on the Articulate forums here:

It would seem Storyline and GIFs have had issues for a while, but since both Storyline360 and CA4 are on version 4 at this point, I hoped it might work like it does in powerpoint. No luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Huge thanks!

Hi Brian - I've read through the Articulate thread and have a suggestion to make.  Try rendering your Animated GIF straight to a file.  Yes, Quick Capture is cool, but if it isn't working, try something else.  In this case, experiment with the settings you've got in Render > Render Image.  Select GIF from the Format menu at the top.  Select Sequence from the next control down.  Further down, you can specify the start and end frames, if appropriate, in the Export Range section.  Set your looping options next.  Finally, select Transparent but don't select Render Hidden Objects (unless that's actually appropriate).  Finally, click that big old Export button and save your animation as a standalone file.

I don't use any of the Articulate range of apps (though a colleague does), but I'm sure you'll be able to work out how to import your new standalone file.  You seem to have got hung up on rendering to the clipboard (because it works nicely with PowerPoint), so you should try this as a separate exercise.  I know you've now got a cumbersome workaround through PowerPoint, but give this a try and see how you get on…

NB I have a vague memory of there being a possible bug with the looping options back in the CTA 3 days, but it would be interesting to see if you can make at least some progress this way.
