Hi Everyone,
I've been working trying to figure out how to attach an animation to a character in Iclone and then be able to open in Character Creator 3 with the motion/animation attached. Can someone possibly point me to a tutorial on how to attache the animation to the character in Iclone, I've not been able to find anything yet.
Thanks!

character creator is not an animation tool, when from Iclone you send a character in character creator all animations / motions are removed. However : - if it is to export your character in FBX format, to be used in another application, you can indicate during export the animations / motions that you want to export with your character. (you will need the pipeline version of Character creator) - You can also export your character in FBX format with animations / motions directly from Iclone. - If it is to send your character to Unreal or Unity, the best thing is to go through the plugins specially designed for this use, these plugins are free. (but there I could not help you, I never did it)
If you explained more precisely what you want to do, you would be better helped.

Since I still don't know what you want to do with your character after exporting, this is how to Export it with motions. it's up to you to choose the right otions for your specific needs.

I'm just trying to get Iclone animations over to CC3 Pipeline so that I can export them and then bring them into Unity. I just can't figure out how to get the animations from Iclone over to CC3.

for this you should not go through Character creator, but do it directly from Iclone using the Plugin. But since I don't use unity, you will have to wait for a Unity user to explain the procedure to you.

Iclone can only export to Unity or export at all if you have the 3DExchange pipeline, but you can move the animations from IClone over to CC3 and use the CC3 pipeline to export to Unity. My question isn't really about how to export them to Unity, I know how to do that. I just need to know how to get the animations from IClone over to CC3. :) Thanks for your help!

I find it hard to understand what you don't understand. Once you have exported your character in FBX format (with the animations) as I showed you on the video, you can close Iclone and Character creator and you open unity and import your character into Unity.

I apologize if I'm not saying this correctly. I don't have an issue exporting out of Character Creator 3, what I'm trying to find out is how to get the animations out of IClone 7 and get them over to Character Creator 3. I can export out of Character Creator 3, no problem. I've done it many times. Thanks!

If you have CC3 Pipeline, you attach the iMotions in the FBX export box. See here: https://manual.reallusion.com/Character_Creator_3/ENU/3/Content/Character_Creator_3/3/17_Export/Exporting_FBX_Characters_with_MotionPlus.htm?Highlight=export%20fbx

How do I get the animations into Character Creator 3?
They are showing in IClone 7 currently.

Do you mean saving your clips from the iClone timeline? See here; https://manual.reallusion.com/iClone_7/ENU/Content/iClone_7/Pro_7.4/09_Animation_Timeline_Editing/Collect_Clip_Track.htm https://manual.reallusion.com/iClone_7/ENU/Content/iClone_7/Pro_7.4/09_Animation_Timeline_Editing/Saving_Clips.htm?Highlight=collect%20clip
Once you have saved the motions to your library, follow the instructions for loading the iMotion files in the CC3P FBX export.

The animation I'm trying to save is from the IClone Motion pack, called Male Idle, but it doesn't give me the option to save it. I'm assuming because I haven't changed anything. I'm trying to get this animation over to Character Creator 3. Looking at the Marketplace product page for the animation it shows it's compatible with CC3, I'm just having an issue with getting it to show up there.

Looks like the issue is actually where I'm using the Smart Gallery Plug In as the IClone 7 stuff isn't showing when using Character Creator 3. Saved it locally and then moved it over to the Character Creator Template folder and no issue. Thanks!

When it shows that the motions are compatible with CC3, it means that these motions that you bought are compatible with the characters created in CC3 (inside Iclone, but not in Character Creator 3) . You can animate your CC3 character in Iclone with these motions, but when you send your character in Character Creator the motions are NEVER exported with the character.
YOU CANNOT HAVE ANIMATIONS IN CHARACTER CREATOR 3.
You can never animate a character in Character Creator, this tool is not made for that.
On the other hand, if from Character Creator 3, you want to export your character with motions in FBX format, it is possible: when exporting you must assign one or more motions which will be integrated into your FBX character to be used in UNITY.
Now if what I'm saying isn't clear to you, I can't do anything for you. Sorry.

I can see where the text written by Reallusion can be misinterpreted.
You can "import" any animation into CC3. The purpose of CC3 is only to create (and edit) the character.
You move the character from CC3 to iClone. You add animation in iClone.
Then you can export your character with animation from iClone.... and import it into another animation program such as Unity. But the animation cannot go back into CC3 because it is not an animation program.
