Hello!
Just seeing if anyone knows a "acceptable" hair poly count when creating hair. I have come across a bunch of different polycounts. I tested out som SWAM trials just to see what they use and some are up in the 40K Triangle count!! I was shocked!!! I normally like to stay under 16K.
I would like to know if 40K or even 25K is still OK though because I could make better hair with those numbers. I have been practicing making hair because I can't think of anything else to make at the moment. Running out of ideas!
Thanks for any feedback!
Here is a teaser of some hair I just got done making. It's only 9680 triangles.

Hi Dorothy Jean My personal preference is around 25k. Depends on the hair, the rest of the scene polys, etc, and I'm used to using imported Daz hair which is massive until I reduce it. I've reduced some of the SWAM, too, if necessary. I've let some ride at up to about 40, depending on how it looks lower, but it seems like 25-30 is some sort of sweet spot.
Hope that helps Nicole

Sweet, thanks for the info. I might just make a high poly and low poly of the same hair from now on. Just in case 😀
