I know how to put clothes on and even switch outfits. But it seems I absolutely, after hours of looking, cannot remove them!
Please someone help.

Go to the scene tab, expand if need be, select item and press delete.

It took me forever to figure that out, too. A simple 'delete item' button on the line for each item would be great, and even better would be to select the item in the viewport and delete it.

If it is a CC character, you can double-click the clothing right in the 3D viewport to select it. Same goes for hair and accessories. Then just press "Delete" on your keyboard.
